Azon Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 As the topic states. As far as I know everything from windscreen onwards is interchangable (although not identical). But what about the interior (particularly the dash)? rear lights assembly? etc. Quote
Toecutter Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 I used a 76 2+2 dash and put it in my 74 2 seater, no problems. I beleive there might be a difference in the rear lights, perhaps the panel. I'm pretty sure the 2+2 rear end is a tad wider, please correct me if I'm wrong fellas!? Another note on interchangable parts in general from other Datsuns for the 240, (not meaning to hijack your post just thought it might help), but I recall reading there are a number of knobs, door handles etc that Datsun used across a few more common models to keep production costs down. Once again maybe one of the other guys here might know a little more about this since I read this info on the net quite some time ago. Sulio I'll post details if I can find the original post. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 3, 2006 Administrators Posted January 3, 2006 We should build a list of parts that can be interchanged between models so next time any of us visit a wrecking yard we know what we can take with us. If we come up with a good list I'll make the post a sticky item so that it always appears at the top. I know that the door handles are the same on a 1600. I believe the 2+2 rear lights are the same just the surrounding panels are slightly longer. Quote
Zeddophile Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Well, pretty much anything exterior from the front pillars won't fit, as I'm guessing you already know.... 2+2 doors are longer, the bumpers are wider, rear quarter glass is different.... Not sure about the hatch, I should look into that, because I want one for my car..... I think a lot of the interior is probably interchangeable, with perhaps exception to the rear trims, I don't see why they'd have changed it. Quote
lambs Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 2+2 hatch is different to 2-seater version....won't fit. Quote

That's what I was thinking to ask you to do later, althouhg probably create an articles section - easier to navigate and doesnt make the forums look heavy Quote

NZeder Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 If you have 240z shell, then all mechical's from a 2+2 will swap in, just the drive shaft is longer. However having said that remember that there are some difference's between a 240z/260z early and the later 260z as far as suspension is concerned. 240z/early 260z = 51mm struts were as the later 260z are 55mm (most racers pick the later stuff up and install into the 240/early 260z). Most 260z have R200, were as the 240z has/had a R180, but the swap is easy if you have a 260z 2+2 doner car just swap the R200 in, half-shafts, and use the 2+2 mustash bar (can spell to save myself sorry). I believe the front cross member is the same just the top section is different that holds in the rack (260z have a larger rack but the tie rod (inner and outer are the same)). engine is and box (well I assume you know they will fit fine), and as stated the entire front end will bolt on (again a number of racers here in NZ have picked up rusty or cheap 2+2 for the front end after a off, or for the bigger struts, rack etc) I hope this is of use. Cheers Mike Quote
