chartoo Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Will these size rims fit on my 76 260z 2+2. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=136846 They fit on this 75 280z so they should fit on my 76 260z 2+2 right? I got this quote form Kim at Rota wheels in America for a set of 4x 17x8.5 +04 114.3 RBR's in Royal Hyper black. He quoted $ 650 + $ 400 shipping to Western Australia = $1050. Andrew Quote
sco_aus Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Damn, thats a good deal, tempting for some race rims. Any ideas what they weigh? Quote
modular9 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Mick has these on his 77 260z 2+2 with no modifications. So yes they will fit. Paid the same sort of cost as well from 18racing.com. But then he can tell you that himself Gonna get a set of these myself. Quote
chris240 Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 does anyone know what the difference in quality is between Rota rb's and Sport Max Racing rims..I assume the rota's 1 piece ? see pics.. has anybody dealt with SG motoring from US ebay before ? Quote
chartoo Posted August 30, 2008 Author Posted August 30, 2008 i think i read they weight 20.5 lbs which is 9.5kg. heavy for racing but fine for the street i think...i dont know Quote
Add Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I've been told by some guys on the 86 forums that the sportmax rims are not as well made, how true that this is i'm not sure. I would check over at hybridz there seem to be a few guys with them over there. But it could explain as to why they are cheep. Quote
stevo_gj Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I'm seriously considering these rims as well in "hyper black". They look sweet and seem to be a good price. One thing that worries me is making my steering any heavier. My Z is my daily driver after all. Chartoo's ordering 8.5" wide rims, can anyone with wheels of this width comment on how its affected your steering? Cheers, Steve Quote
PZG302 Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 I run 8" rims with slicks and as much castor as I can for racing and the steering is heavy. Depending on if you have grown up with power steering or not will be the deciding factor on how heavy the steering is. Personally I haven't found a Z yet with heavy steering, then again I grew up driving old falcons and valiants with 7 and 8 inch rims no power steering and sports steering wheels, gave me arms like Popeye Quote
reverendzed Posted August 31, 2008 Posted August 31, 2008 Hey guys I'm running sportsmax rims and they are fantastic even my tyre guy who has a lot of experience with wheels and mags said he was impressed, they balanced up perfectly and look every bit as good as other stuff. Steve think about getting a staggered set, I'm running 7" on the front 8" on the rear both with 245 tyres and it is lighter on the steering than it ever was with the original wheels Rev. Quote
stevo_gj Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 Yeah I had thought about running staggered, it seems like a good option for a daily. I'll order a set when I start working at the mines this year with the staggered option, I probably won't be able to afford it until then anyway. I'm thinking since 8.5" fits under the stock arches I should aim for 7"front and 8.5" rears. How much were your sportsmax's rev? They look sweet. Steve Quote
