Clyde60 Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 I am new to the Z world. What is the best service manual for a 1976 260Z? I need to start pulling stuff apart and although I have been around cars all my life, I have never touched a Japanese vehicle. Looking forward to it though! Quote
boyblunda Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 (edited) There are a number of good references available. but I do not know which would be the best. I have : Nissan Motor Co Ltd Tokyo Japan Datsun 260Z Model S30 Series Service Manual Publication # SM5E-OS30GO 1976 Service Bulletins 197 (1973), 215 (1974) and 266 (1976) can help in describing the modifications made to the 260Z over time - there may be additional bulletins that I do not know about. I find the Nissan parts catalogues useful but they can be expensive. My most recent edition has publication # C-001OR dated December 1977 (sixth edition) The Haynes publications come up on Ebay fairly regularly. Search books on this website for additional recommendations and comments. Hope this helps Edited September 7, 2020 by boyblunda Correction Quote

Bird Posted September 7, 2020 Posted September 7, 2020 There's one for sale on Gumtree https://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/sutherland/other-parts-accessories/datsun-240z-workshop-manual-and-advertising-booklet/1255531780 I was gonna grab it, but he never got back to me and I found another one, so you might be luckier than me. That's GREAT information! I did not know such a thing existed. Gonna save a lot of cursing in the long run. Quote

Best investment I made was a set of these screwdrivers. Rhino Tools at Heathcote (NSW) have them: https://rhinotools.com.au/product-category/electricians-tools/screwdrivers/ For the workshop manuals, try: http://www.xenonzcar.com/s30/fsm.html The manuals are for US spec cars but for dismantling they should help. They have a manual for the 74 260Z. Hope this helps. Quote
