ZED660 Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 (edited) FOR SALE - R180 3.9 open K series diff with bolt in half shafts, moustache bar and tailshaft. This stuff has been sitting in my garage for quite a few years now and it is time to make some space. The assembly is as I pulled it out of a 240 I bought back in 2000 (for $2500!!). The moustache bar has had the original rubber bushes removed and I haven't seen a tailshaft like this one (it was a track car). Looking for $750 or thereabouts. * Located south of Sydney near Jannali Geoff Edited September 25, 2018 by ZED660 gav240z and George 2 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted September 25, 2018 Administrators Posted September 25, 2018 Driveshaft looks like the early flange style, perhaps modified to accept a uni joint for a later box swap? Quote
Kent Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 Thanks Geoff! And thanks for the info gav, that's pretty much what I had hoped.. Quote

I am not sure, it could have come like that. My 72 240z (Build date Dec 71) had a unique gearbox mount and was delivered with a 71A box, but had a later 72+ style console. I've seen option boxes also with the flange attachment (but of the 71B style). So it may be a transitional item for a short period of time, like my 72 gearbox mount. I have a 71A driveshaft in the garage if you want photos for comparison or measurements? Quote
RLY240 Posted September 25, 2018 Posted September 25, 2018 My bitsa parts car had a similar shaft that also looks like a hybrid. Quote
ZED660 Posted September 26, 2018 Author Posted September 26, 2018 The assembly came out of a 71 model but it was a while ago and my 'old timers' brain can't recall what type of gearbox was in there. Mine looks like a reverse of yours Roger with the spline bit at the gearbox end. Geoff Quote

ZED660 Posted September 26, 2018 Author Posted September 26, 2018 Hi Kent, Not sure if this helps, but here are a couple of pics of my (your) one with a tape alongside to maybe compare with what Gav finds. Geoff Kent and gav240z 1 1 Quote
