Here's a better way than importing or trying to find tail light gaskets D.Y.I!  We went to Clark Rubber and bought some high density rubber in exactly the right thickness, retrieved the old gasket, made a template and off we went....fits perfect!

Also found Clark's had an almost identical inner hatch rubber which was way less expensive than scotts or rare spares...worth chasing these things out...saves $

Rev.

All i can say to that thank god some people still use their brain instead of their wallets.

Clark Rubber and Fitch the rubber man (in adelaide) are my best friends LOL. everything besides the rear hatch window seal i got from them for 1/2 price than from rares or genuine nissan.

bit of DIY and u cannot tell the difference. so u can pay $50 for one seal for tail light or make your self two for $10

Love your work. Rev

This is awesome, its exactly what forums like this are about, sharing information on how to save some cash with your restoration / preservation project.

You could probably sell a few too. I already bought a set of tail light gaskets for my Z though.

Its such a common problem with Zeds and so many of the rubbers have rotted out, causing fumes to seep in and nausiate a driver :).

I don't even think its an item you could get picked up on concours given that its hidden away under the rear garnish panel.

What condition were your old ones in? Any idea if its improved the fume situation?

Excellent work Rev. And just what a lot of people need. High density so that no air will blow back through the hatch via the gasket. I reckon Clarke Rubber have some great stuff. I often wonder around finding stuff for my car there.  :)

If we share info like this everyone benefits, Lurch helped me do my springs that I could never have done so..... this is paying some of his kindness forward!
