"plastic wrapped" ? oh i kill me  :D

how you going to register a half cage ? or is it a case of " not allowed to do it in QLD but everywhere else is ok " again ?

It's a bit like seat belts. Everywhere, except Queensland, works to ADR regulations, which requires seat belts for cars from 1969 onwards. Queensland is from 1960. I plan on taking some of my pre-1969 cars to Victoria (I have a Vic licence and a Qld customer number) to register them, then transfer the registration to Qld. In theory, there should be no reason why this wouldn't work, but in practice, it may be a different story.

Half cages are legal in Vic, but only in 2 seater cars like the Zed because of no rear seat! If I was installing a cage in a Crummydore for example with a harness I would have to remove the rear seats and register it as a 2 seater. Also intrusion bars cant be higher than the seat that you are using. So if you had a stock seat in a Zed and the intrusion bar came up 4 inches higher, that's a no-no. In my car, my fibreglass seat has very high sides so I think I just scrape through...just..

I thought you could have higher ones, but they had to be removable, ie only using them on track.  A cage builder or engineer would be the person to clarify in your state.
