gilltech Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 Am wondering at what stage of assembly the bonnet hinges and springs were installed and so did they get partly covered or fully covered in body colour or not at all? On mine they appear to have had some sort of passivated coating to prevent rust then paint - well I think it's the original paint?? - over that but thanks to wear and tear of the hinge moving parts where the paint has worn off it's difficult to tell. C.A.R. Posted June 18, 2017 Posted June 18, 2017 They are zinc coated, then painted as an assembly. I'm unsure however, if they were painted on or off the car. Most original hinges I've seen are not painted on the back of the mounting flange. George and gav240z 2 Quote
gilltech Posted June 18, 2017 Author Posted June 18, 2017 Ah thanks for the info. Yes have examined them again and they are definitely zinc coated. Just wasn't sure whether the body colour was supposed to be on them as well. Much of the paint has worn off, and need to tidy them up so must decide whether to strip them for the natural finish or repaint them. Quote
