chris240 Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Fellas My bonnet release cable snapped at the crimp end, and its frustratingly frayed about 20cm in.. Can you buy the complete cable and pull end, ? Or do I take it into someone to get it recabled...I thought I might take into into my local bike shop perhaps. Thoughts / suggestions. Quote
CBR Jeff Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 You might have to ring Fred, Chris. Part number should be 65640-N3401 Failing that you could get one from Merica they should be the same as the mechanism is in the middle of the car. Or as you said get it fixed. I'd try the chandler at the Yatch club. Jeff Quote
gilltech Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 The cable assembly is around US$170 plus postage. Ouch. Better you get one off someone's parts car. The problem with repairing yours is swaging or crimping a new cable into the Tee handle, although the other end would be simple like a bicycle or motorcycle cable. Quote
Cozza Posted April 30, 2017 Posted April 30, 2017 Try Conwire for repairs. They are very good. http://www.cablerepairs.com.au Quote
chris240 Posted April 30, 2017 Author Posted April 30, 2017 Hmmm, I cant help thinking the bar bit that screws onto the t-bar, cant be reused, when you look at it the cable must sit at least 3-4 cm inside, and then crimped... Thanks Jeff, I'll pop in and see bugalugs, pending that I'll call conwire and post it to them. Quote
