luvemfast Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Hi ya'll, I have a 280ZX which is having all the steering arms replaced. All except the drag link as I've been told that they don't sell them new anymore. Does anyone know where I can get my drag link reconditioned? Thanks, Simon Quote
luvemfast Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Surely someone in Vic has replaced their drag link? or has had similar experiences?? Quote
620Z Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Simon I am unsure what the exact part you are referring to is. Could it have another name or can you give more detail? Maybe that's why no response yet? Quote
C.A.R. Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Craig, 280ZX's have a steering box & steering arms (Drag links) similar to a 1600/180B. Simon, Have you tried ringing around the Zed specialists & seeing what they have to say? Quote
luvemfast Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Fair enough Craig, I have been told by Rob at Ringwood Auto that it was called the drag link. Could it have another name? Before that I was calling it Fred. Its the longer arm that the pitman arm, idler arm and tie rod ends attach to. I rang Nissan and they can get one from Japan for $298. I got a price for it to be reconditioned for $140 a side.....2x $140=$280 Simon, Have you tried ringing around the Zed specialists & seeing what they have to say? Not as yet Lurch, not enough hours in the day. I will tomorrow, who would be the best to try? Have another place to try in Clayton, Kent R & Sons. Anyone heard of them or had experience with them? road rider Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Hey Simon. Do you intend on keeping the 280zx in the family for a while?? Is it a clean car that deserves some dollars spent on it?? Here's something to think about...... Get a series 2 rack and pinion steering and put that on. Sorry but I have never been a fan of the old drag link set up (aka fred ) Quote
luvemfast Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Yes, I have thought of a series 2 rack and pinion.......after I fitted a new idler arm and have the inner and outer tie rod ends. Is it that much better though? Quote
