Morning all

Just in the process of getting #571 ready for rego and have got the brakes up after having the rear wheel cylinders resleeved.

All good for a couple of days but now I'm getting a hiss when I apply the brakes with the engine on. I'm thinking that the diaphragm in the booster has gone and perished. Anyone think different?

If it is this, can the unit be rebuilt? (And has anyone a rough cost for this) or is there a booster off another Datto I can use. If not, where best to get new?

Mine's a 71 car with the smaller booster.

Cheers

Another booster, off another also very old car, could also have problems!

Getting other model boosters to fit can cause issues, ie pushrod lengths both inside and outside not right, bolt pattern spacing and orientations.

Better to get your existing unit checked out, and if required serviced.

Yes there is a big rubber diaphragm in there, as well as a big compressed spring. The tool to undo the halves doesnt stop the bits from wanting to decapitate your body parts!

You can upgrade to a skyline/Z32 unit if you are happy to drill some new holes.
