Administrators gav240z Posted July 10, 2016 Administrators Posted July 10, 2016 Hey Guys,Someone posted a link to these photos on Facebook and I was going through and enjoying seeing some of the classic cars parked in the streets of Melbourne. Hokin Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 Nice to go back in time and enjoy the old days (really starting to sound old now). Spotted a few 1600's in there also Quote
luvemfast Posted July 11, 2016 Posted July 11, 2016 What I love is clearly how life was a lot simpler back then. You can tell just by the presentation of just about everything! CBR Jeff 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 12, 2016 Author Administrators Posted July 12, 2016 What I love is clearly how life was a lot simpler back then. You can tell just by the presentation of just about everything! I know what you mean, I also thought it was interesting to see just how many old Mazda's there were, in some cases the piston derivative but also quite a few old rotaries parked on streets and in people's driveways. The sort of cars that wouldn't be left out now, for fear of being stolen. A lot of old Datsun's on the road also and a few Toyota's for sure. What I find interesting is the way that certain cars just quietly vanish from our roads and nobody really notices until they see 1 on the road again. There was 1 in car in there I just couldn't place. I suspect it was an Austin Marina GT. I wonder how many of the cars in those photos are still around today! Quote

GTI-Z Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 Found another Z ! Don't think much of the hubcaps - could be from a 200B. Wellington St 030-032 Flemington-Kensington 1984 sheet 06 30 by Graeme Butler, on Flickr gav240z 1 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted July 14, 2016 Author Administrators Posted July 14, 2016 haha, nice find. They do indeed look like 200B caps. It could be because the original S30Z ones were actually quite expensive. I recall talking to someone here who told me back in the day they were the equivalent of 1 weeks wages for a single cap. So if 1 went missing you probably found the next best thing. I'm going to guess it was a 74 260z because early 260z's tended to come with steel wheels and caps and later ones were almost always fitted with the 260z alloys (part no. 40300-N3200) we see so often. GTI-Z Posted July 14, 2016 Posted July 14, 2016 I remember when I bought my first Z (a 260) back in 1982. It was a 1974 model (chassis ~ 926 I think or close to it) and I replaced the steelies with a set of late model 280ZX 6 spoke wheels. If I had bought the wheel nuts from Nissan it would have cost about $110 on top of the cost of the wheels. Quite a bit of money back then for a 2nd year apprentice ! Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted May 26, 2018 Author Administrators Posted May 26, 2018 Worth bumping this up again. This time some Blue Mountains photos. https://www.flickr.com/photos/blue_mountains_library_-_local_studies/with/36634177234/ I think many of the photos in this slideshow I posted here come from these. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/14535-off-topic-youtube-thread/?p=204495 Quote
