I'm after a R200 3.9 ratio longnose open type diff in operating condition. I'm thinking I might have better luck winning the lotto and buying a Z432......

Not much help as I am in NZ but I have 2 and 2 4.11 all out of early skylines and laurels etc but I guess this is why you are having trouble finding them as these cars are like hen teeth in Oz. Shipping will kill any deal :(

Came across two sitting in Z31's at centre road wreckers. Didn't have the right tools to pull the them out. Needed a breaker bar to undo the nuts and I didn't feel safe under them at the time so decided it wasn't worth it. Plus I was really after an LSD.

Dude, if you were to pull both of them out, I would pay for one and give you a bit extra for doing the work depending on how much they want for the 2 diffs.  Im just after the gears really, the rest im already set for.

Thanks for the info! I often go to the Center Rd wreckers from time to time and have seen those two Z31's. I'll check if they are still there and the ratio. Might be easier to drop the whole rear end (arms x-member) than wrestle with the diff underneath....I hope! I'll drop in this Saturday.

How come you don't want an LSD Dimitri? I know they are probably harder to find but I found one (3.9) after 6 months of searching.  :)

Believe me I wanted to pull them out but didn't have the right tools. I tell you there is nothing more frustrating. I also didn't feel that safe under the car wrestling with the racket to try and get it out. They put those cars up on 4 old rims. I was also there to try and get a L28 long block for a friend but again didn't have the right gear with me.

There were quite a few long blocks there (L28). But since I was also saving cash a the time for my trip overseas I didn't bother. If they were LSD's I would have done god knows what to pull them out :).

OK there you go Dimitri there is a 3.9 R200 LSD on the OZDAT website at the moment for $1,200-. Sounds good and that would be a good price since they don't come up much anymore. I know it's a bit of money but a good investment for your car. Maybe even get some cash for your old one? Can't go wrong if it's still available.

Craig, I've already have an LSD in the car with the 4.375 ratio which is great for tractor pulls, rock climbing or going up walls. The 3.9 is needed just for the ring and pinion. Rather than pay for a complete 3.9 LSD, if I can find a open diff for not too much, and change my ratio, I'll be real happy. The significant other is already upset with my other purchases from ebay etc for the zed and a LSD should be enough to push her over the edge! I've exhausted my funds buying another brake upgrade, rear suspension arms and other bits...If I run out of time for Philip Island, I may have to make a 3.7 LSD and be content with that. :-\

I understand now. I was talking to Sinisha this afternoon and he told me about your brakes. Well done. Sounds like your car will be awesome. As for the other half. Well they get over it eventually.  :)

I was more putting that to Zedman240, if he was willing to pull them both out, depending on how much they wanted for them, I would buy one and throw him a bit extra for doing the labour etc since im Canbera and all, but yeh thanks.

Hey NZeder, How about sending just the ring and pinion? Would shipping still be a killer? And would you want to strip it tho..... Might save me heaps of time sifting the wreckers yards and ebay...I've bought enough shit already!

hmm I might be coming to Melbourne around GP weekend ;) so what will you be doing with the 4.3? I would like a 4.4/4.3 ish to go with the collection ;) crown and pinion for crown and pinion :)

Do you have 2 sets of them NZeder?  I have been after one for ages.

yes but I want to keep on for my self - unless I can find another before then ;) This will give me 3.9, 4.11 and a swap for a 3.9 to 4.3/4.4 + 3.7 and 3.5 are easy to find here too.

ok so I thought I better check my centre to ensure I do have what I believed I have purchased. turns out one of the 3.9 is in fact a 3.7 so I only have 1 3.9 which I want to keep so I thought I had

3.9 x 2 and 4.11 x2 but I have 3.7, 3.9 and 4.11x2 so that is no good to any of you guys sorry about that. Just as well as the diff came free with the z31 half shafts I was after.

I will still see if I can find another 3.9 before I head to Melbourne as I might be able to swap a 4.11 for a 3.9 locally.

Thanks NZeder...hope you find one!  Went to the wrecker yesterday and crawled underneath the Z31 auto that was there and found a partially dismantled 4.1 open R200... dammit. I think the manuals came with the 3.9 ratio. On another note, found 2 good electronic dizzys in some R30 skylines....
