15/16 Brake master cylinder.

Hi All,

 

Does anyone know where I could purchase a 15/16 brake master cylinder for a 240z in Melbourne?

I purchased a Willwood 1" and it is way to hard for the 4 spot caliper setup I,m running.

I'm sure there will be plenty of ideas out there but when I upgraded to larger calipers I went with a Nissan Patrol 1" bore. Still all mounts straight up to the original set up and easy to buy brand new from a brake place.

 

I can't remember price but it wasn't outrageous.  I can find you a part number if you are interested or someone else might have it handy

JB1361 is the part number, google it there's plenty online stores that sell it.

Go back to a 7/8 M/C & re-adjust your pushrod, Kev...

I was kind of thinking along those lines myself to install a 7/8''just to see how the pedal feel would be.

A lot of other people have posted so called good results from 15/16'' master cylinders with willwood 4 spots. I am sceptical that a 1/16 reduction from 1'' to 15/16 would give me the pedal feel I'm after.

PM your braking details - pad size cross-section, pistons dia & how many there are, effective disc size.

I'll run the calcs early next week & give you the results for what size MC you need.

Do a calculation of square mm area of stock calipers (4 pistons) vs the new Wilwoods, (8 pistons)

Then calculate square mm area of stock m/c, vs 15/16 vs 1"

Fr a gven dstance of travel each m/c displaces a given qty of fluid, then divide that into the calipers ( total sq mm)

 

That will give an indication of what combo is closer to stock.

 

Bear in mnd, the bigger the m/c, the greater the pedal effort to displace.
