Hi has any body attempted to powder coat an entire car as the finish is unlimited and more durable than normal paint

i am interested in the process and if it can be done , any suggestions

The heat involved is probably going to rule out body panels. Powder coating is done "dry" - the paint is sprayed on as a film of powder and then heated to melt / cure the paint. Temps are pretty high (quite a few hundred degrees F), I personally wouldn't submit a car panel to the temps needed for the process. Works on larger bits, suspension, etc that aren't going to warp and buckle from the heat.

 

I could be wrong though.....

Powder coating does have some good points but also some bad points. Personally i will never get anything powder coated. I painted all my crossmembers is 2k instead.

Interesting idea indeed

In my experience powder coating does not give a finish as good or as consistent as painting.
