Azman1984 Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Hey guys, Was going through some of my boxes of car parts and things I've collected over the years. I came across this steering wheel and horn pad that I really have no use for either item. Open to offers if anyone's interested. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 12, 2015 Administrators Posted February 12, 2015 That's a home market horn pad, the horn icon was added on later version as part of Japanese rule changes. Early ones just had the Z emblem. I'd say it was probably off a home market S31 (or what we would call a 260z). These wheels restore well. Quote
44014 Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 My 260z's original wheel just had the z and no horn icon? Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 13, 2015 Administrators Posted February 13, 2015 I was trying to find where I saw that information, can't find it now. Quote
Azman1984 Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 Hmmm all interesting information thanks Gav. After some more looking through my stuff about all of the extra information I can shed on this is that it came with my last 260 2+2 and I was told it was the original wheel and from memory that was a late 74 model Quote
Riceburner Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Hey Aaron, I'll definately take it. I'll PM you about picking it up. Just to add to the discussion, it looks identical to my November 73 240z original wheel before the fire. Lol. The horn pad is the same as my 'compe' wheel. Quote
gilltech Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Has anybody got just the steering wheel internals (for the horn) going spare by any chance? I'm missing some of the parts & also the spring. Quote

gilltech Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Hi Azman1984, if your other spare wheel is like the 240 wood-style wheel in your thread's pics above then yes please take a look. But if it's the 260 padded type wheel with the large projecting padded centre as per the Aus-new cars then no good to me but thanks anyway, as on those the horn is a completely different operational set-up & uses completely different internals. Someone here might just have an accident or fire damaged 240 wood-type wheel with good internals that they'll never have use for. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Sorry mate, unfortunately not. It was in my brothers mint daily 1600 :'( There was nothing of the steering wheel left at all. see post #8 http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14278.msg151086.html#msg151086 Quote
Azman1984 Posted February 13, 2015 Author Posted February 13, 2015 I've gotta go back to my storage unit over the weekend gilltech so I will have a look. I used to have a few different wheels so will see if I can find anything for you and will PM you to let you know how I go. Quote
gilltech Posted February 14, 2015 Posted February 14, 2015 There was nothing of the steering wheel left at all. Cheers mate, I remember reading your post & feeling very sad for your brother...I've got a soft spot for the Datto 1200 & 1600's & SSS's as they were quite common back in the day & various mates owned them. Did your brother ever get back into them? And if you could take a look in your stash Azman1984 that would be great, I really only need the uppermost round metal plate that the black wire screws on to, & the horn cap spring, before I can fit my wood-style wheel which I bought years ago without realizing it was incomplete. Z432 has red Z logo w/no horn mark. US steering wheel (Right) has deeper spokes. Quote
