gilltech Posted December 11, 2014 Posted December 11, 2014 For what year car? There are differences. Quote
tin Posted December 13, 2014 Author Posted December 13, 2014 74 260z 2 seater and 73 240z im really after anything Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 13, 2014 Administrators Posted December 13, 2014 I have seen OEM 260z 2 seater ones but expect to pay $1200 at the least for these. Brand new condition. Can get 240z style ones cheaper around $700 - $800 a pair again brand new (OEM). Second hand good door trims don't come up for sale often. Alternative is to look for a pair of LHD ones which have an additional 2 hole for the grab handle that is fitted to passenger side doors. You could possibly deal with in a few ways. However by the time you pay for shipping from US and find a good second hand set etc.. Your only looking at a couple of hundred dollars difference between good second hand (with additional holes) and brand new OEM. Quote
gilltech Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 an additional 2 hole for the grab handle that is fitted to passenger side doors Must be on 240 only, my 260 doesn't have an additional grab handle. Quote
44014 Posted December 13, 2014 Posted December 13, 2014 Also on top of being a 74 you can only use 74 260z door trims as the lock snib is located about 2 inches further back then the later ones. So 280z ones will not fit. The ones on yahoo that gav is talking about are for the later doors. I have seen one door trim for sale in aus for early 260.... I bought it. And I have seen a pair of nos trims on yahoo for $1600 plus shipping, duty, street ears commission .. I was at about $2000 when I told Jess not to worry about it. Cheers Doug. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 13, 2014 Administrators Posted December 13, 2014 These are actually fairly priced. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/DATSUN-240Z-DOOR-TRIM-SET-BLACK-GENUINE-NOS-NISSAN-RARE-SPARES-ADELAIDE-/331385571164 Alternatively you can get the door trim material (for 240z) as reproduction material (in any colour) but you don't get the masonite backing for it. There was a guy on HybridZ.org doing carbon fiber or fiberglass door trims that could be used instead for the backing portion of the trim. However I'm not sure what the status with that was and if he actually made any in the end. It could work out cheaper doing it that way. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted December 14, 2014 Administrators Posted December 14, 2014 Ok so the downside to second hand units is that the masonite backing is almost always broken / perished / warped. Example of second hand. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-interior-passenger-door-panel-trim-/151449347404 OEM pair on eBay US (factor in postage to AU). http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-interior-door-panels-NOS-/111546664198 I think it wouldn't go cheap enough to make the pair on eBay AU too expensive (like I say they are priced very well!) Reproduction Door Panel Cloth ($150 USD + Postage) and no masonite backing either! http://www.ebay.com/itm/DATSUN-240Z-260Z-280Z-2SEAT-DOOR-PANEL-CLOTH-SHEET-SET-PAIR-NEW-/161076126994 Finally this looks promising. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240Z-1970-73-Door-Panel-Cover-Set-New-OEM-Reproduction-Choose-OEM-Color-/121333093907 Reproduction units, I'm not sure if they come with the backing, it seems from the description they do! See bold text below. These reproduction Door Panel Skin Sets are dielectrically heat embossed, and are precisely cut for an exact fit. These skins have several inches of extra material around the perimeter for easy assembly. They are an essential part of a finished looking interior restoration. This set contains both drivers and passenger side door panels skins on autoboard backing with correct accessory openings and chrome trim as shown (see detail photo). Items are manufactured to order, so you will receive the freshest new vinyl and as always, we include free Shipping. Sadly my time in the US of A ends tomorrow. Otherwise I might have been able to bring some back with me. As for 260z trims, your SOL unless you want to spend big monies as mentioned above. Or willing to wait until someone in OZ is selling a good pair at a reasonable price. Not seen a pair in a LONNNGGG time. Quote
