fbr Posted November 25, 2014 Posted November 25, 2014 Hi, Sometimes when I'm driving the clutch bite point is in what I'd describe as a normal position, (a few inches off the ground) and then other times be just a few centimeters. It's not the case of after it warms up it stays in one position or another appears random. Would anyone know the cause the fix? Thanks, Tim Quote

oldmates260z Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 It may vary as if it is low and you use the clutch a few times quickly it will pump out any air. Suggest you look for fluid around where the shaft from the top of the clutch lever goes into the cylinder on the firewall and also take the rubber boot off the slave cylinder (with safety glasses on, OH&S ) on the gearbox and see if any fluid drops out of there. Only other thing is if the pressure plate is starting to fail but that should be consistent Quote
1600dave Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Fix is to buy new cylinders, fit them and bleed the system. You should be able to pick up the whole lot (both cylinders, new brake fluid, and maybe the rubber hose on the slave cylinder) for under $100 - not a bad idea to replace the lot anyway if its a bit "iffy" and treat it as preventative maintenance. Cheaper than a towtruck when it fails completely (which it may well do at the most inconvenient time). Quote

fbr Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 update - bled the system, changed fluid problem still there so changed master and slave over the break and problem solved. thanks all. Quote
