240Z stock rear sway bar wanted (WA)

I'm chasing a stock rear sway bar for my 240Z as my car doesn't have one at the moment.  Preferably in Perth, but not essential.

Someone may correct me here - but I don't think 240z's came with a rear sway bar from the factory...

My '73 240Z has never had a rear sway bar, I am pretty sure the 240Z's didn't have rear sway bars even though the hanger brackets are there for a sway bar.

Yes mine has the brackets but no sway bar (it's a 71 model).  As I am getting a bit seasick driving the thing, I want to try a rear bar on it.

Thats my understanding that no 240Zs came standard with rear sway bars, but others on here can confirm better I am sure.

Correct, all my info indicates none of the 240Zs, nor the earliest 260s, were supplied with rear sway bars. The brackets were there, presumably for special factory models or to assist with factory sanctioned competition set-ups.

Thanks for the clarification gilltech, I just assumed because the rear brackets are present that some of the cars came with sway bars.  Ok, so is a stock 260Z rear sway bar compatible?  ie. physical dimensions, bar diameter compared to front sway bar etc.

I fitted a rear bar ex USA supplier to my early '74 260 2-seat, it's 7/8", aftermarket of course.  IIRC my stock front bar is about the same diameter. By rights I should probably at the time upgraded the front to a 1", but with the $$$ exchange rate being poor at the time I opted not to. I've been happy with the set-up as it is.

The Z Store catalog lists different 240, early '74 260, & subsequent 260/280 rear bars, but whether layout or specification is different, or both, who knows. Maybe ask them? If you can lay your hands on a 260 bar then try it to see if it fits. Otherwise you'll just have to go aftermarket.

Hi I have a stock 260 2+2 rear sway bar. I calipered it at 20mm dia which is between 3/4" and 7/8". It has the bushing rubbers on it too. But I live in Sydney so you would also need to pay for the shipping to WA if you wanted it? It is quite an unwieldy shape and heavy so not sure what that cost will be. If you are interested let me know and we can sort it out. I would only want $50 for it. I can measure it up for you to make sure it fits as there may be slight tweaks on the 2+2 I am not sure.

Thanks for the offer Andy, I'll let you know. I will do some research to see if the 2+2 sway bar is the same as the 2 seater.
