Hi everyone,

Just curious if anyone knows of any decent looking pedal covers or preferably replacement pedals for a 260z.

The covers that came with my car are pretty dodgy, they look ok except for the one on the accelerator that wasn't long enough and didn't sit firmly (so I've taken it off).

I've seen replacement rubbers for the pedals, but wondering if there might be something out there that might add a touch of class.

let me know.

Get a set of aftermarket Carbon Sparco ones..... Thats what I did. Neat and subtle.

How did you install yours? Do you have to cut down the existing accelerator pedal, or does it just cover the bottom of?

If you buy some aftermarket ones make sure they have some rubber on them. Had to replace the ones on my car when I went over the pits as they were all metal

All metal pedals are fine, so long as the 'bumps' protrude a certain length, it is covered in some ADR somewhere.

How do I know? When I was a rego inspector I failed a MX5 for having no rubber on the pedals,

The guy was quick to point out they were OEM fitment as well as showing me the ADR that covered it.

Pretty sure one of his MX5 buddies had been through this before and clued him up about it.  ;)

Anyway, from a roadworthy point of view, all pedals must have a grip surface of a minimum standard and be securely fitted, so no clip ons, need to be permanently bonded or screwed to the existing pedal.

Funny you mention that. I swear they were all clipons. But I checked and the clutch and brake are firmly bonded, and just the dodgy one is a slip on, and it seems to be a slightly different pedal. The two bonded are one colour blue, the gas pedal another, but they look very similiar, SO I think they just found the closest fit they could find. I'm not terribly observant so I if that's what they did I guess it worked.

Sadly, Now I have to figure out how to get off the first two (they seem to have screws coming out the back that I can't unscrew from the front, so I fear I may have to take off the whole pedal assembly just to see what the hell is going on. Probably just wont bother.

Grrrrrr.

I'm getting a little confused by this (nothing new there) but the pedal pads on my 3/72 240Z were slip-ons, albeit a very tight fit.

I replaced them with the pads from the VZ Holden donor car, after I had welded on an extra bit of plate to create the same size metal pedal as the VZ. The VZ pads were also slip-on. I don't really understand the screw/glue requirement?

Exactly, my 260 still has the original rubber pads, & they are 'slip-ons', no adhesive used just very tight fitting. Same with my Mustang.

My guess is that the illegal pads are those 'boy-racer go-faster' add-on cosmetic metal/rubber panels that fit over the existing pads & just have soft pliable foldable tabs at the back to fix them in place.
