cracker Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 Hi All, Looking to swap my red interior panel set for a black one. (Before people call blasphemy... I have sourced replacement cloth seats (fd rx7) in black and want it to be all "matchy matchy") I have all the interior panels (photos of all except the rear side panels below), door cards and re-upholstered seats available. I recall seeing one or two members looking for red interior parts so am unsure if there is still demand, but I'd prefer to swap my set of interior panels for a set of black. This may not be feasible so should I not achieve that I won't be able to part with my set until a replacement is found (I am currently driving the zed daily). I would also be willing to part with the seats separately should I not sell as a package with the panels. The door cards are in "okay" condition. The tops are faded from UV exposure but otherwise are in good and original condition with only minor marks. The other interior panels I'd also consider to be in good overall condition with some fading on the panels that see more sun. The rear plastic panel is in good condition with one minor chip out of the plastic (pictured) and the two side plastic panels are in "okay" condition - good but for a small crack on the LHS panel that is difficult to remove around the hatch strut support point. If you have a set you'd be prepared to swap, let me know. Happy to pay cash adjustment for a set better than mine. I am unsure of the value of the seats but a quick browse of the classifieds says they should be around $500 given they are re-upholstered and in excellent condition. Happy to negotiate if that is not considered fair. Cheers, James zero four 03527398 or by PM Quote
d3c0y Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I was just talking about this today, saying i would be keen on a red interior and i have brand new door cards, but no seats. How do you fix the door trims though? That's the big question and i guess that's why you want to get into a black one? Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted August 21, 2014 Moderators Posted August 21, 2014 Not sure if you have included a red roof lining, but I do have one if anyone is interested. Excuse the hijack Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 21, 2014 Administrators Posted August 21, 2014 You can get FD seats in red - just sayin.... http://www.ebay.com/itm/1993-1995-Mazda-RX-7-Custom-Leather-Trimmed-Upholstery-Seat-Covers/380971552861 http://rx7.com/store/rx7/fdinterior_accessories.html (only shows tan and black here). Since my RX-7 is Silver I wanted to go with a red leather interior, but couldn't find a good set of second hand seats. I personally love Silver + Red exterior / interior trim combinations. Quote
G Posted August 21, 2014 Posted August 21, 2014 I'm always interested in red interior bits if people are selling.. Quote

How do you fix the door trims though? That's the big question and i guess that's why you want to get into a black one? The door cards are definitely the issue if the condition is different. It's probably a long shot to expect to be able to swap items in a similar condition so that neither party loses. I probably didn't want to fork out for brand new ones but would be willing to make some sort of cash adjustment if the items traded were better than mine. I have done some brief research on restoration and while I don't think it's possible to get them back to factory condition, leather restoration kits or similar can be quite effective at "covering up" sun damage, but need to be re-done every 6 months or so. I've also got the roof lining (and the diamond trim but I gather that isn't worth salvaging) but will have to check it's condition. G, what parts are you interested in? Feel free to PM me. Gav - while I don't deny that was an option, it just didn't appeal at all! Cheers, James Quote
