Hi all Recently joined forum.

Just purchased 1973 240Z log booked for Group S racing.

Car currently in Sydney, after much assistance from James Flett MIA engines  inspection and video of car drive and dyno to check health of engine. Negotiated the purchase, car has been on the market for about 18 months on various site my.105.com, carsales. Sound straight body no rust but older restoration.

I am fitting Velo seats, ADR & FIA compliant and harness and having James do some tuning with his manifold hoping for 170hp at the wheels.

Cat has been extensively refurbished in 1999-2000 prepared for Group S motor by SWR matching numbers engine.

Will pick up car last week of August plan to ultimately to put on normal registration with correct plates for 1973 Victorian Black & white.Planning to use car for weekends and Group S races and supersprints.

Club plates to start.

Road trip to return  car to Melbourne which no doubt will have unexpected suprise's.

For pictures look on Carsales

Cheers

Mike

Yep. Peter Langs old 240!

You'll just need to put a good engine and box into it.

Peter used to drive it pretty hard, can recall him sailing off at Turn 4 at Eastern Ck with no brakes.

Here's a couple of vids, pt 1 and pt2 from Eastern Ck!

Off the line is yLang's yellow 240, alongside is Flett in his 260. Next to the Alfa ( camera car) is my blue 280, at full noise off the line!

Check put my wild outside passing move, while the Alfa dives to inside!

You will enjoy Group S racing, big fields, plenty of close competition. A Jeff Thomas in Vic bought that blue/whiteZ from Wayne Potts a while back, at $38k, he's starting to do pretty well down there!

I'm  sure that the 240Z has its original engine now, not the race motor that is now in Peter's 260Z. Also not running 3 inch exhaust now 2.5 inch.

James seems to have come  on a lot since 2009 the video of him chasing the Pantera at Winton? is quite good fun.

Cheers

....

At recent Winter National Historic meeting at Morgan Park, the Group S field numbered some 23 cars.

At the Autumn meeting, in May, some 18 cars.

In September we have a 2 day Lakeside meeting, current indications are approx 17 cars.

The racing is close, and there is great camerarderie in the pits amongst the Group S competitors.

Once you get the car sorted, and a few lcal Vic meetings under your belt, why not escape the cold Melbourne winter, for a while, and put the HRCCQld July meeting on your calendar.

Quite a few interstaters travel up here every year!
