the 260z 2+2 has the reverse light separate to the tail lights unlike the 240z. is it possible to change over to the 240z tail lights and the surround?

simple answer? no.

Complex answer? Yes, but you have to unpick the whole rear panel and replace it with a 240z one.

Lurch? Did it on a chassis. pretty sure its here somewhere.

It 'can' be done, but requires cutting the top & bottom inner edges of the panel & plating over the reverse light hole to allow mounting of the 240Z taillight assembly.

Also it is a 2+2 so the rear garnish is slightly wider than on the 2 seaters. So you'll need to fabricate the 240z surround to be a bit wider.

I would just black out the copious use of Chrome surround on the 260z units. Makes them look less busy.

where can you find new ones?

Are you looking for new 260z ones or 240z ones? There are a few reproduction units floating about on eBay US at the moment.

Refer to links I posted here:

Although I am not sure what 240z rear lights would look like on a 260z 2+2, would be interesting to see that!

These guys also do reproduction units.

For some purists (sometimes I'm guilty of this) it's gotta be OEM, but given the price of new units I think reproductions would be an excellent alternative. Seems the quality of such units varies though, the jdm-car-parts.com ones look best!
