Gordo Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Hi guys, I tried to fit a 240z rear sway bar to a 260z coupe and it appears the chassis mounts are different . So It don't fit. Is this the case. 260z and 240z are different . Also what about the 260 2+2. Can anyone shed any light on this. If anyone has a 260z rear bar bigger than standard.(18mm) please let me know. Cheers. Riceburner Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 Did you end up working this out? I thought there was only two types, rear mount near the transverse link or front mount (OEM)? Quote
gilltech Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 They look exactly the same, yet The Z Store (USA) lists different part nos for the 240, & early vs general 260. It doesn't appear that the 2+2 is different again. Even if the bars are the same maybe the mounting kits differ for some reason. Could a PO have stuffed about with yours? Quote
d3c0y Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I thought 2+2s had thicker bars too. Maybe that's just the front? Quote
Gordo Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 The mounting is factory on the 260z. And mounting the 240z rear bar it hits the body of the zed, right where the back of the seats floor meets that corner. Quote
Riceburner Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 If it's a bar with straight sides it'll be a rear mounted bar, common on the Arizona Z car stuff Quote
nat0_240_chevZ Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 yes def different. 240s have a 2 inch or so offset forward from the swaybar mount/pivot between the 2 bushes 260z not, is straight. The above I can confirm, id tried it previously, but other way around. the 260z mounts appear further forward, 240z on and inline with the front diff cross brace in the floor, 260s more infront. Not 100% confirmed but i think the bus and the coupe bars are the same or very similar. 240z rear sway/anti-roll bar bar pic note the forward offset between the mounts. (top one in pic) 260z rear sway/anti-roll bar bar pic note the forward section further forward between the mounts. (longer arms) nat0 Quote
Gordo Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 Yes Nato, thanks for the conformation . This means I will have to source a 260 rear bar. Thanks for your help. Cheers Quote
