Congratulations to the ZCCQ organising committee and volunteers and the people from WDSCC, Just Flags, CAMS and the timing people for putting on such a fantastic event, Special mention must go to Club President Paul Clemens who worked extremely hard to get this event to work,

The motorsport side of things were great, the only hassle was of course the rain, you would have to feel sorry for anyone who only had slicks to run on with Saturday being called a wet track (so no slicks) all day up until late in the afternoon for practice qualifying, for the running on the long track on the Sunday. The bent sprint was a excellent idea :) from my first 2 runs on Friday morning i knew it would be a hit and it certainly was, even in the wet.

All in all a 10/10 Easter weekend and the best nationals i have been too despite the rain.

What a great weekend at the Nissan Datsun Nationals 2015 at Morgan Park Raceway in the lovely country town of Warwick Queensland. I arrived back in Brisbane on Sunday night totally exhausted after attending 4 full on days of the NDN 2015 event. I drove the (loan) 260Z up to Warwick on the Thursday and arrived around midday to assist with the preparation as will as get all the documentation and car preparation done. The weather on Thursday was fine but very cloudy but Friday, the first day of competition, looked even worse, then Saturday the sky opened up and it was wet, wet , wet but the event went on at full steam ahead. Well the gent who provided me with the 260Z had some very bad luck on the Friday when his race 240Z suffered a major mechanical failure and was withdrawn from the event. Fortunately he was able to register as a dual competitor using the loan 260Z I had been driving so for the remaining events over the Saturday and Sunday we drove the wheels off that lovely totally factory standard 1974 260Z. We were listed in different groups for each event, David in Group 2 and me in Group 5 so David would run first, fly into the pits after his run on the track, we would change over the transponder and vehicle number then I would hop in helmet on seatbelt on fuel check and then line up on pit lane for my run on the track. That poor car got an absolute ponding over the weekend but didn't miss a beat. David's times were unbelievable for a stock car just running tarmac rally tyres and I was pleased with mine which got faster and faster as the weekend progressed. We went on the track in all weather conditions, fine, light rain then very heavy rain, and finished the event with our and the car's body and motors fully functional and running smoothly. The main thing I just loved about the 260Z apart from it's looks was the amazing torque, I could just leave it in third gear for most of the circuit, no matter what track was in use and it would just pull it's self through the corners and thunder down the straights and all I had to do was get the braking and the corner apex right. I am almost a covert to the Datsun Z but not quite, still love my beautiful series 5 RX7, just need to get it back running again and on the road. I have attached a few photos of our Test Driver and race car tuner for the 260Z and it is through her efforts that the car ran so well. Enjoy, Cheers Peter

Dam my mission failed :D thanks for taking such good care of her Peter,

She is a great old girl, she has been run in the Leyburn sprints, a Regularity at QR and NDN09 and used by friends (correctly ;) )on loads of the great ZCCQ club runs. and just keeps on going, and going very well. Completely standard and for 41 years old is a joy to drive, just goes to show what great a car Datsun made back then!
