DreamZproject Posted December 21, 2013 Posted December 21, 2013 Hey guys, as the title says. I'm not in urgent need for these items, I'd prefer to wait and get the right condition/ price. I own both doors and bonnet, but they are in fairly bad condition and I don't possess the skills to fix the amount of damage they have. As for the mirrors, I am after the bullet JDM ones (they dont have to be the legit Z car ones, i believe the ones I'm after are from a blue bird or something. These don't need to be in perfect condition as i wish to paint them black anyway. I just don't want to have to pay $300 for a pair. Thanks guys! Quote

Administrators gav240z Posted January 14, 2014 Administrators Posted January 14, 2014 I believe they are listed as Hakosuka mirrors but they do look more 510 / BlueBird style to me. For what it's worth the genuine Fairlady Z ones seem to go for a lot more money than those chrome plated ones. I found a single side (S30Z 1) listed for about $150 in second hand condition and needing refurbishment. I think if you could get a second hand pair for $300 you're doing well, then just paint it up and re-plate the bolts and fasteners etc.. and you've got a brand new set of mirrors that will look right on the Z. I personally find some of the other mirrors on the Z don't quite look the part and since they are in a fairly prominent position on the Z I think it's worth getting the genuine article. I know when I saw Mossy's (Mark's) 240z it looked great with the correct mirrors. I just have to find a good way to purchase from Yahoo! Auctions Japan and deliver to an AU address without costing a bomb to use the service. I've been figuring out ways to find various parts for old Nissan's and started a spreadsheet which contains various Japanese Kanji Characters I can use to return various search results. Since many auctions are listed using the non-english characters. Quote

No I was going to fire him an email though, I've been thinking about importing parts in bulk to supply to Auszcar members and charging a small fee myself for the time / risk involved as a way to supplement my Safari Gold project, but I need to understand more about the customs duty on parts imported etc.. Good price The chrome ones are for bluebird 510. On used sets I've always found the rubber mirror surround/seal(around the glass) is perished, I'm not sure how you replace them or if you can. I bet there is an easy fix though. Quote

mossy Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 As far as I'm aware the z ones are a mattblack and the 510 ones chrome with a shorter stalk, Gav's ebay link looks like the z ones but the ad also says a few parts aren't original, maybe ask the seller. I dont find them very practicable but they look the biz Quote

Still a lot more than i wanted to pay, but I think it's a better idea to get the exact right mirrors as it will cause less problems + it will look just right. I really do love that fender look .
