Hi guys.

This is doing my head in......

I have zero experience with AN fittings and hose and there are so many choices for the different fuel, and oil lines I need to make up. I look online at places like Aeroflow and Summit and I just get confused because I dont know what fittings work with what type of hose.

Is there somewhere in Melbourne I can go which will give me good advice, has a good range over the counter and wont rip me off?

Thanks

Got all my AN fittings and braided lines from ENZED. Bit pricy but you get good quality. Also think they sell the Speed flow stuff.

I did a bit of reading about this on the V8 forum.

Everyone said Speedflow are great, but you do pay for it.

Aeroflow are good - not as good as Speedflow - but very good price:performance ratio. Aeroflow are Rocket Industries house brand, made for them/to their specifications in China.

I dont recall a lot about Proflow, but I believe they are VPWs alternative to Aeroflow.

David - My original thoughts were to go AN and I went through the exercise you are now doing but I had a change of heart. Probably the main reason for the change was that '63 GTOs didn't have AN fittings and I want to keep some semblance of period about the car (even allowing for the LS1), plus I didn't want to start mixing metric, imperial, AN, etc. on the car. Also, because I'm using all GM components for fuel I wanted to retain the push-on connections - I don't want to over complicate this build so that I get stranded somewhere like Wheelabarrowback waiting days for parts.

To cut an involved story short I ended up utilising the original GM fittings (cheap as chips) by cutting off the heat-shrunk plastic tubing and attaching rubber/synthetic fuel lines with the traditional hose clamp. It's an individual choice of course but I'm happy with it.

For your consideration.

Thanks Peter.

Understand where you are coming from but I'm paranoid of fuel leaks and the slightest possibility of my pride and joy burning to the ground. When I had the engine running on the test stand you should have seen the rubber fuel hose develop a life of its own and move about when the pump pressurised it. It was a real wake up call as to how much pressure and potential there is for a leak.

Thanks to Mike (NZeder) Ive found some scary stuff on the push on adapters with the plastic clips http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?1805261-LS1-Swappers-Check-your-fuel-system so I'm going to go with the screw on retainer version http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-644113/overview/

Some time ago I purchased one of the earlier Russell push-on fitting and found it very very hard to press on, I could never tell for certain if it had 'clicked' into position. I wonder if some of those failings were due to incorrect installation rather than a design flaw? Either way I wouldn't be using the earlier type.
