lightmaster240z Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I was gust down at the news agents and pick this month "RACE". It has a lovely articles about a number of z cars in It.I sure there are a couple of you that will know these cars form there time at the Island. Quote
dat2kman Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 Nationals, 6 hour, or Historics? Few Z's at each! Quote
bluerat Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 I just dragged this out again and had a re-read, I was a bit surprised there was not more discussion about it!! Anyway...Is no 16 the oldest 240Z in Australia? and is what he said in the article true about production starting at 13. Hoping I'm not opening some sort of can of worms here? Hodgo Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 21, 2013 Moderators Posted July 21, 2013 Chassis #4 is in Melbourne the last time I saw it. A nice burnt orange coloured, very original example. Apparently it was the zed "Road and Track" magazine tested for their article. Quote
bluerat Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Thanks Dimitri, a couple of mate's said they had seen a single digit car at the nationals a few years ago... so they weren't hallucinating. I presume 'Road and Track' was an old Aussie Mag, not the still going USA Magazine? I take it no 16 was NZ'ers old car? Look's like he has done a top job with the restro. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted July 22, 2013 Moderators Posted July 22, 2013 I think Mike sold #16 so yeah. There are a number of low vin's around..just locked up in some garages. Quote
Riceburner Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 I see he mentions strut bars are not required for Zeds, is this true? I thought anything foward of the firewall was weak and prone to flexing? Quote
bluerat Posted July 22, 2013 Posted July 22, 2013 Not with those early one's Gareth...they are extra stiff!! LOL. Mate, like a lot of thing's it might or might not do much, but at the end of the day they are pretty light and it can't hurt. Mine had more bracing than an Orthodontist's when I got it.....and I know it completely changed the handling of Scando's green monster when they put the welded cage in it. Anyway what were #16's lap's times like, that's what I look at! Hey Dimitri I've heard that at least one of the early ones have been out of the shed lately!! Quote
