Hawkwind Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Hey guys. Well i'm looking at redoing my interior. It's all ripped out atm. I almost ordered all my stuff from http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/CTGY/SIC which is in california. I ordered the vinyl kit which covers the centre transmission housing, boot riser area, and rear wheel n stut housing, the vinyls for the seats, and also the foam inserts they make for the seat restoration kit. Also the dogleg panels near the rear wheel housing. I would have like a blue carpet set too, but apparently they only came in black (as was original). Anyways, all up the parts came to around US$690 i think it was.. But because of the size of the order, they had to go private shipping which worked out to be US$280! This is where i kind of lost interest in the entire order. SO!!..... I thought i'd post here locally in Australia to see if you guys know if there's anywhere here that sells these parts, without the extortionist delivery charges. Any advice or information would be much appreciated. Cheers!! Quote
Rod F Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 I haven't found much in the way of interior kits made locally. There's carpet kits on Ebay from a couple of different companies, I think one is TruFit. As far as vinyl or seat restoration goes, I searched a few months ago for replacement vinyl with the diamond pattern but couldn't find anything. I believe some people simply take their seats to an automotive upholsterer for re-foaming. Has anyone else found something? Quote
matt drago Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 I recently had my seats redone. I ordered the foams from Too Intense restoration. And shipping ended up being a fiar portion of the total cost. I didn't get the vinyls from overseas and just had an upholsterer build them from scratch. All up, the seats ended up costing me about $1500 Aud. Of course the vinyl does not have exatcly the same grain, nor was I able to find the metal vetns, but the seats look and feel good to me I have yet to broach the matter of interior vinyls, but have heard that the diamond vinyl is not available in australia (not the size that is needed anyway). From my searching, I haven't found anyone in Australia that make these parts, so the import route will probably be the one to go down. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 10, 2007 Administrators Posted August 10, 2007 Perhaps try Eiji at www.datsunspirit.com mention you found him through Viczcar.com he might give you a discount. I know he can get those Vinyl's and he usually charges a reasonable price given the quality of parts he can get. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted August 10, 2007 Administrators Posted August 10, 2007 I know that some local interior reupholsterer's can sometimes get a very close match in pattern. It's worth taking a sample of the old ones in and seeing what they can come up with. There is a guy in Richmond (Melbourne) not sure exactly where I think near Richmond train station, he looks after some exotic equipment and I think might be able to help. Quote
Sooley Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 Don't touch Aussie Classics on Ebay. Mine took over 3 months to arrive with way to many excuses along the way. Quality wasn't that good when it did too. Sooley Quote
Toecutter Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 Over the years I've had about 5 sets of carpets made up to the originals. Look the same when done if you supply the original pattern as a guide. Funny thing is these guys charged me different price every time. Always paid between $55 to $95 for all 5 pieces inc fornt and rear matts and hacth carpet. Not sure where your located. ARLI CARPETS in Airport West Victoria. Their contact details are some where in these forums. Do a search. Good Luck Sulio Quote

stevo_gj Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 I had my seats redone with vinyl and repacked for $700 for the pair. Carpets cost me $500 for him to use the originals and replace them. This was at Lee Brothers in Brisbane. Details in recommended businesses. He did not have access to a diamond trim for the transmission tunnel that looked original so to keep the price down he used the most similar pattern he could find, see below. Quote
aegean Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Front and rear seats I had made up in the US from original vinyl (and seems to be correct, but I haven't put them side by side against the ones in the car) to compare the grain. They were supplied with the correct vent holes etc. Cost was US$300 including shipping. The tunnel vinyl is available from the US, and is made by Distinctive Industries. They make it for all of the companies that make up the kits. However, I first contacted them in November last year, and received a reply in July ! They said that it was 18" wide by 60" long, and US$75 a sheet. When I sent them photos of the two types - 240 and 260, that was the last I heard. I have sent them reminders, but based on their initial time to make contact, I am not expecting a reply any time soon. Quote
ausclassics Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 I Think Sooley has complained enough now!.... Yes the carpet was late but it was lost and then replaced just as per our guarentee. Unfortunately this made it much later than anyone would have liked. We guarentee our Carpet kit and I will even give FREE standard underlay to those who buy and mention the Zcar forum. Order online at www.ausclassics.com.au Cheers Stuart Quote
