WTB: JDM Kakimoto "Datsun 260z" valve cover

Guys,

I would really like to get hold of one of these like the one Benny sold 2 or 3 years ago.

This will go on my Datsun 260z race car that is getting built to period spec using period brakes and other mods that were all period. The car will have an L28 so the period will be 1975 aka when Nissan first released the N42/N42 L28 (and the reason I have 3 x N42/N42)

Here is a sample pic

If not I will pick up a L20et one locally (will do this anyway as I know where one is for sale) and remove the turbo letters and make my own style ;)

Hey Mike,

correct me if i'm wrong but have i not seen these in the Kameari parts catalogue? Actually just went and checked, and they are on the front cover of the last Kameari Engine Works Catalogue that I have. Might be worth checking out if they do infact still do them?

Cheers

How do you do the lettering like that?

laser cutting/water cutting I would guess and CAD. That is the plan - anyway I will leave that to my fabricator that I use he will know how ;) once I get him to use the Mill and remove the Turbo and maybe the Nissan from the cover first.

A dodgy looking valve cover (DIY jobby).

sure is. I have shown the pics and the turbo cover to my fabricator we are going to make a new top for the stock turbo cover but that does depend on the costs. David that purchased the one Benny sold is going to take some measurements from the original item for me so we can replica it as close as we can - this will take some time while I wait for David to get back to me and while I save the $$ for the alloy plate/cutting and cad work etc.

The idea is the top is to be welded in a few places on top of the stock cover and bonded with alloy/liquid metal/stuff you know how BMW join the alloy panels together these days. Time will tell how it turns out but it will not be cheap at a guess.

We will move the oil filler neck to replicate this too.

That "Datsun 3100" one looks like a modified kameari "Datsun 2400" item. I could do the same but the Datsun 260z would end up at the wrong end as would the oil cap/breather. I guess that depends on the cost of the quote I get back.
