C.A.R. Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Hey guys, Well all got back this morning safe & sound. A full report will be uploaded soon. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 12, 2008 Administrators Posted February 12, 2008 Hi mate looks awesome. Wish I was there, oh well when I get back from OS I'll definitely have come along. The bus is looking good Lurch! Quote
modular9 Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Lurch : I have searched and i have looked in the galleries as well to find out EXACTLY what tyre/rim package you are using in these pics. I went to your ozdat site but they looked like american racers jellybeans and the ones in the pics here are damn fine. I have a red bus. I need to know what you are running! Also looks like it is lowered ( and probably got rose jointed billet cnc machined this and that ) a tad as well. I will be forever in your debt as will my wallet! Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 13, 2008 Author Posted February 13, 2008 Riiiiiiiiight... OK....... Nps..... Quote
sco_aus Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 It was a great trip and great people. Special thanks to Craig for organising and to Lurch and Craig for helping out with my unfortunate financial situation. Cant wait to see the videos His wheels are Starcorp C5s, 16x6.5 with Falken ziex tyres. I sold them to him recently. Backspacing and offset to suit Z, they clear any calliper due to the massive backspace that gives it the right offset. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted February 13, 2008 Administrators Posted February 13, 2008 Lurch it would be great to put all these pics in the gallery section of the site. How big are they compressed like they are now? Feel free to email or PM me anyway. Quote
620Z Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Well what an awesome trip yet again. It was without doubt the best driving Lurch and I had ever done. Some on video some not. We all seemed to have a great time. The driving experience in Tassie is something to be experienced and never forgotten. I know a few of us will never forget some of the stuff down there. We had Symmons plains litterally to our selves. No hassles just 5 cars going round for as long as they liked. Lurch took full advantage of that and cut loose for the most laps. Basically we just had one car on the track at a time. Why, because we could. It was a rare track day. No major hassles for anyone the whole trip. Thanks for coming down Scotty. I hope to see you in the Zed next time. Cheers Quote
Scando Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Glad to hear you all enjoyed the trip to tas and made it back in one piece What did you guys think of Symmons Plains? I find it a bit boring after Baskerville but it is fun going over the start/finish line and getting all loose over the right hand crest into the tight left What roads did you like the most? I'll look forward to seeing some of the videos posted up. Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 14, 2008 Author Posted February 14, 2008 Interesting circuit Scando - you definitely have to have grunt though... I got down to a 1:13.24 which I don't think was too bad on road tyres & brakes that weren't behaving... The road into Cradle Mountain was probably the best - 60km odd of fast, smooth flowing roads... Quote
sco_aus Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Yeh mate, Im already planning the Motec and rewire for the Datto, alloy radiator and hopefully roll cage. 2 years to do it all, should have it in 1 year Quote

Yeah, it's a bit of a drag strip hey! Another guy that races a Z down here used to do around 1:09-1:10 with a lightly modified L26 in his 240Z. Considering semi slicks are generally worth about 3 seconds compared to road tyres I'd say your were going quite well for your first time on the track It sure is a killer on brakes. It's supposed to be the hardest track on brakes in the V8 Supercar series! I run RX7 4 spots on Honda Legend ventillated rotors on the front and R31 discs and callipers on the rear and they're nowhere near up to the job. They start to fade after about 3 hard laps..........no good when our shortest races are 5 laps Quote
620Z Posted February 14, 2008 Posted February 14, 2008 Yeah that road into Cradle Mountain was the highlight for a few of us. Never driven so fast. Even got Lurch to hit his top speed in his car in my slip stream. It was a classic. The walk around Cradle Mt Lake was very pleasant as well. For me I like Symmons Plains certainly different to the tracks in Vic so it's always nice to go somewhere different. Quote
sco_aus Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 What times do you post around Simmons Plains Scando? I got a 108.60 in a JZA80 TT Supra (auto )with very few mods. Quote

That sounds pretty good considering how heavy those Supras are! What sort of times did that awesome looking 350Z do? My best is 1:03.07. Hoping to have a brake upgrade done by the next meeting there which should get me into the 1:02s or maybe even the 1:01s. Quote
sco_aus Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Thats damn good. The 350Z got a 105.04... Quote
Toecutter Posted February 27, 2008 Posted February 27, 2008 Well as Craig is aware of I have almost finished editing the 6 hours odd of tape and have condesnsed it to a 1 hour 10 min video for all that went on the Tassy trip. I'll post a 5 to 10 minute highlight vid onthe site int he coming week or so. Cheers, Sulio Quote
C.A.R. Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 A 'short' 10min video sample of the Tassie Tour has been uploaded by Sulio onto YouTube. The full length 1hr10min will be screened at Craig's (ZZZ8) place next week (Date TBC). Quote
