Administrators gav240z Posted January 29, 2018 Administrators Posted January 29, 2018 Hi Folks,I am cleaning up a rear bumper for my 72 240z, I've polished the old chrome as good as I think it will get (given it's cosmetic issues etc..) and want to replace the rear left hand side strip (rubber piece) on the passenger side the vertical piece (not the overrider piece) as mine has cracked and broken off on the side of the 1/4 panel (right at the end) and a screw has come off it and someone has drilled into it from the outside to hold it in place. It doesn't need to be perfect (hence why I haven't bought a new 1) so a bit of age will suit it perfect, prefer not to have major cracks and still look like black rubber if possible? Should be to suit a 2 seater bumper rubber (can't recall if sides of bumper are longer/diff on 2+2 or if it's just the middle piece that's longer?) If nobody has 1, that's ok I may have a spare off another old bumper. Images below of what I'm looking for.. Price: prefer cheap... they are not much brand new so not going to spend a fortune on old ones. Quote
peter t Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 See Warren at All Z Parts. He has some I paid for that he never sent. Quote
gilltech Posted January 29, 2018 Posted January 29, 2018 Just get the repro ones from Phil's Rotaries, Brendale Brisbane, see eBay. From my experience they fit well, all I did was to replace the standard nuts with the shouldered type to match the originals. IMO it's not worth phaffing around with used ones, they are all fairly perished and degraded by now which is why you see so many Zeds without them. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted January 29, 2018 Author Administrators Posted January 29, 2018 I tend to agree, but have a look at the bumper. New might be too luxurious. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/11823-evie-1972-datsun-240z/?p=200641 Quote
redzee Posted February 1, 2018 Posted February 1, 2018 Go to Clark Rubber and buy strip rubber of the width and thickness required, shape and glue on. Quote
