1600dave Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 (edited) I don't have a zed spare parts book (I stupidly sold it years ago), but the part number for a 200B is 08131-05510. 260Z should be the same as the gearbox is basically the same except for gear ratios. Anyway, the bolts are M10 x 1.25, 55mm long and zinc coated alloy steel (so a high tensile bolt). For anyone interested in obscure facts, the part number for this particular bolt can be broken down : 08131-05510 081 = "hex headed bolt" 3 = "alloy steel with a flat or round end" 1-0 = "nominal dimensions" (ie 10mm) 55 = length in mm 10 = "surface finish / cotter pin hole" - 1 = Zinc coated, 0 = no cotter pin hole. And to fully document it : 1st to 3rd position in part number : What type of part it is, in this case 081 = Hex bolt. There are heaps of different types of standard fastener, and the meaning of the rest of the part number varies depending on what it is. In the case of Hex bolts, the following rules apply. 4th position in part number = shape and material 1 = Low Carbon steel with Flat or Round end 2 = Medium Carbon steel with Flat or Round end 3 = Alloy steel with Flat or Round end 4 = Low Carbon steel with Pointed end 5 = Medium Carbon steel with Pointed end 6 = Alloy steel with Pointed end 5th-6th position in part number = diameter in mm 7th-8th position in part number = length in mm 9th position in part number = surface finish 1=Zinc Coated 2=Chrome coated 3=Copper coated 4=Phosphoric acid coated 8=Painting 10th position in part number = cotter pin hole 0=No 1=Yes And just to go against standards, sometimes they combine 9th and 10th positions 9th to 10th position in part number : 42 = Black zinc coated no cotter pin hole 88 = Painting after phosphoric acid coated no cotter pin hole 43 = Black zinc coated with cotter pin hole 89 = Painting after phosphoric acid coated with cotter pin hole The thread pitch isn't defined in the part number, but Nissan used the following for pretty much all Hex bolts : M6 = 1.0 pitch M8 - M12 = 1.25 pitch M14 - M22 = 1.5 pitch So there you go, anyone should be able to work out the specs for a hex bolt from its part number ! Administrators gav240z Posted June 9, 2017 Administrators Posted June 9, 2017 Ok I'm going to split this thread and sticky that post. Since it's so useful to know. RE: Engine bolts. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/topic/16206-bellhousing-to-engine-bolt-spec/?p=192983 08111-03010 qty: x 5 08110-82510 qty: x 2 So I tried to apply your formula but I'm confused? How would you interpret these? 08111-03010 - I translated to: 081 = "hex headed bolt" 1 = "Low Carbon steel with Flat or Round end" 1-0 = "nominal dimensions" (ie 10mm) 030 = length in mm 10 = "surface finish / cotter pin hole" - 1 = Zinc coated, 0 = no cotter pin hole. 08110-82510 - I translated to: 081 = "hex headed bolt" 1 = "Low Carbon steel with Flat or Round end" 1-0 = "nominal dimensions" (ie 10mm) 825 = 8.25 length in mm? 10 = "surface finish / cotter pin hole" - 1 = Zinc coated, 0 = no cotter pin hole. Does that work? Quote
1600dave Posted June 9, 2017 Author Posted June 9, 2017 Yep, I checked my book and those dimensions are correct. Don't seem right for gearbox to engine bolts though, seem too short ? Quote
cruzer Posted June 13, 2017 Posted June 13, 2017 I found the details from Nissan Note, I asked Nissan for 260z (2-seater) Gearbox to Engine bolt details. Gearbox to Engine Bolts. M10 x 1.5 08131-06010 QTY: 4 M10 x 1.5 08171-00601 QTY: 2 Note sure what the 4th position type is supposed to stand for though for the 2nd lot of bolts. I'll attached the pick of these bolts when I pick them up Quote
