  1. I needed mirrors for my RWC a few months ago so I fitted a set of vitaloni california mirrors as a trial. I think they look ok, but not the best. The biggest problem is that there is not enough adjustment on the passenger side mirror, so you can't see anything. They are on the list to replace as soon as possible.
  2. Update in case anyone else has the same issue. Groundhog kindly offered for me to have a look at his 260z and compare my distributor with his. We found that his original engine had the same larger standard distributor as mine, which appears to be a 280zx type but with points not electronic ignition. This means that a 280zx distributor cap and rotor should fit fine, mine are still on order to confirm. I have since confirmed that the 260z had different distributors for manual and automatic cars, which should account for the difference in size. In the meantime I had a closer look at my distributor, as my car was missing badly over 3000 rpm, and I have just got it back on the road after sixteen years in storage. I noticed a large 10mm gap between the rotor end conductor and the six distributor conductors inside the cap. I am amazed that the car actually ran quite well below 3000rpm as I discovered the previous owner had replaced the distributor rotor with the smaller rotor from the incorrect automatic distributor. I have now installed an old correct rotor temporary and the missing has all gone not surprisingly!
  3. I got this one. Not running with a fuel regulator at the moment and it seems fine. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/E85-compatible-Pierburg-Fuel-pump-low-pressure-external-3-5-PSi-100LPH/151312762664?epid=1642452807&hash=item233af18728:g:EtwAAOSwLhBauSeV
  4. Does anyone know if there are more than one type of distributor fitted to the Australian 260z 2+2 as standard? I am trying to buy a new cap, rotor, condenser and points, but everywhere only has one set of part numbers listed that is for the wrong parts. The replacement cap is too small, the condenser mounts differently and although the points look the same they won't adjust correctly. The part number of the replacement cap is Bosch GH526. I have attached a couple of bad photos of my current distributor. I can't see any part numbers on my distributor or cap etc.
  5. Just to update this issue for others. I was able to get the pump primed after a lot of effort, but was not happy with what would happen if I ever ran out of fuel. I ended up replacing the fuel pump with a Pierburg, and it primes instantly, works well and is not too noisy.
  6. Thanks, I was trying to get away with not disconnecting the pump as it looks a pain, but I suppose I will have to remove it anyway if the pump ends up being broken so worth a try.
  7. Getting close to getting my 76 260z 2+2 on the road, but just having a problem priming the fuel. When I got the car it had been sitting for a few years, so I drained the tank and filled with fresh. I got the pump primed and all was good, but it was a pain and took a good 20 minutes. The fuel was quite dirty so I drained again and primed with fresh again, and it was still painful. The engine ran fine etc. After a bit more investigation I found that the tank was quite rusty inside, so I removed the tank and fixed using the KBS tank sealer. Now I have filled it with 40L of fuel and can't get it primed. This car only has what appears to be the original type electric fuel pump and no mechanical pump. The electric pump has been wired to run whenever the ignition is on. I have tried the following: Both fuel lines disconnected from the carbs and placed into a container so I can see the fuel flow. Fitted new fuel filter just before the pump and confimed that fuel is flowing out of the filter when the line is disconnected, so no blockage from the tank or filter. Sucked fuel from both fuel lines that connect to the carbs. Jacked up the rear of the car. Still not getting any fuel flow from the pump when switched on. I understand that it could be the pump, but it sounds fine and would be unlikely seeing as the car has not been used since it was tested recently. The thing that concerns me is how can the pump not be primed if I have sucked fuel at the carb ends, or can it be sucked from the return without realizing? Any ideas would be great.
  8. Thanks. My roadworthy is booked for next week, so making some myself sounds like the best plan.
  9. Hi, My 260z 2+2 is almost ready for roadworthy, but as I get closer I keep finding parts are missing, as the previous owner took the interior apart and sold it with boxes of bits. I fitted the quarter windows today and noticed that the rubber spacers/washers that mount the chrome push out handle to the glass are missing, so the handle is just loose. Anyone have any or know where I can purchase? I don't even know what they look like. Thanks
  10. From a 76 260z 2+2 Top 217mm Bottom 185mm Height 59mm All taken as though the corners were not rounded
  11. I have one within easy access, but I can't see how to post a photo using a mobile without using a photobucket type service. Is it possible?
  12. Can anyone let me know how the rear seat base is fixed to the car floor on a 76 260z 2+2? It looks like the wire loops at the front is the fixing point, but are they mounted with a bracket or just a bolt. I am guessing that it is the two dome shaped rubber head bolts I have, but would just like to confirm.
  13. Hi Jeff, Which front spoiler / lip did you get for your 240z, and do you know where you got it from?
  14. I got this one yesterday, thanks for letting us know.
  15. Yes the sale went through. I bought it from Brian a few weeks ago. Just slowly getting it back on the road.
