  1. The URL isn't working, I'd love to see the photos.
  2. I bought it. I'm in Melbourne. Chassis no. is HS30-01562 It was restored 3 years ago, painted inside and out, POR 15 on the floors. Really solid car, only the driver's dogleg has a little bit of bog. Needs some work mechanically.
  3. Yeah it does look pretty nice, very similar to the c110 coupe. Ill keep a lookout. Although they don't have an L6..
  4. I have had a couple of people offer me privately on this forum, but they are still after market prices, however they were original ones and had little work needed. I am after more of a project as to keep costs down. I can do a lot of the work myself. Thanks for the advice, I will keep a good watch on this forum and see what I can find.
  5. It just sucks really. I don't want an S30 because they are rare and worth money, I want one for the exact reasons Gav stated above which is that they are simple and fun to work on and the design is timeless. Every time I save up a little more and am ready to go back in the market, the value goes up. At the start of this year, you could get a decent 240z around the 25k mark. Now, we are seeing the exact same cars that sold for that price, are now back on the market for an extra 10k. Its frustrating to see people buying up these cars just to make a profit on them. There have been a few bargains this year, such as the dark green colored 240z in Victoria that sold for 9,000. I guess I'll just have to wait and hope that another pops up and snatch it up.
  6. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-260Z-1975/SSE-AD-4375908/?Cr=1 This is ridiculous. The silver 260z 2 seater is cheaper than this... Market for these cars is out of control
  7. Hi guys, I am after an S30 2+2 or 2 seater rolling shell. Starting a new project using a 280ZX as a donor for the engine and drive lines. Would PREFER if the S30 had an interior and was complete as possible apart from engine, gearbox, diff, ect. Looking for something with as little rust as possible, rust on front end panels is okay, as I can replace them, but I do not want something with rust in the floor pans, or any part of the frame or rear quarter, (rear quarter rust is okay just depends how bad it is) Thanks Located in Northern Suburbs of Melbourne.
  8. I called the guy up. Rust in driver and passenger footwell, lower rails rusty, and what he described was a section on both sides of the car above the sway bar was rusty. 1974 model. Original engine, 80,000 kms (who knows how many times over). Car was originally in SA and has had 2 previous owners in VIC. Interior is in very good shape. Dashboard cracked right along the top but hidden completely with dashmat, no other cracks. Original steering wheel, carpets and trims. Only the seats have been reupholstered. Nonetheless, an absolute steal at $9,500. Would only need the rust done and maybe a paint job, then a days work putting the engine back and you got a $30,000 car. Was going to go and see it tomorrow morning and buy but some lucky bugger beat me to it.
  9. Hi guys, Picked up a transmission just the other day, should have made a post on here sooner. Thanks to everyone who contacted me, and gave me advice. James
  10. Hi Guys, I am after a 3 Speed Automatic gearbox for a 280zx. Mine is all worn and leaking not worth getting a rebuild for it. Need one that is in good shape, no leaks and preferably low km and has been looked after. I am located in Northern Suburbs of Victoria. Thanks
  11. Thanks Andrew. I saw that ad but at the bottom he said he will not post. I'll give it a shot anyway. From what you are saying, 800 is way overpriced for that gearbox especially in its condition.
  12. Thanks for all the responses so far I really appreciate it. I grabbed the input shaft and spun it around, was very smooth spinning but if I jiggled it, it had a little bit of play. He is asking 800 for it, but it is an entire kit (sort of) comes with clutch lever, pedal box assembly, master + slave with hard and flex lines (ive got new ones anyway) flywheel and clutch (which is worn needs replacing). No shifter and it seems a lot of the bolts are missing. I guess I'll give it a miss or maybe just offer him to buy everything except for the gearbox just to make sourcing parts easier. I am happy to spend up to 1 grand for an entire conversion kit that is in good condition. I'm not looking to turbo my 280 or do some crazy power mods (yet) really just want it for the joy of driving a manual and for it to give me good fuel mileage. The 3 speed auto just doesn't seem to cut it for me. (i'm sitting at like 3k - 3.5k revs on the freeway, could be other problems though am currently testing everything i can on the car for any reason for power loss.) Although if eventually I want to make crazy power out of the engine, I should go with a different gearbox? I don't think the 280zx gearbox is strong enough to handle much over 250HP. I've looked at the pinned thread on compatible gearboxes but they are all old and it seems it'll be to hard to source a good condition one and such. Honestly a RB25 gearbox would be perfect really if it fit.
  13. Okay. He said he's had it sitting for 12 months. I wonder why someone would cut a hole in it like that?
