  1. I have a car on the water from Auckland to Port Kembla at the moment and am using Taurus Logisitics. I haven't used them or anyone else from NZ before, but got quotes from 4 different companies online, and these guys were the most reasonable. The ship docks on Thursday and I should have the car by Monday, so can give you an update on my experience if you like? Just be careful and read your quotes carefully, as when they quote you, the cheapest quotes are via Japan for some reason and the car will be on the water for 5 weeks. Ask for a direct quote, its about $500 more believe it or not, and only takes one week. You also have the option of container or RoRo (Roll-on, Roll-Off) I opted for RoRo as it is only 1 week.
  2. So after a very long wait, my Z was loaded into the container yesterday with my Mini (1275GTS - SA Spec car). I can say that my patience was really tested with this unnecessary delay. Anyway, ship sets sail on Thursday and ETA in Sydney is 29 Feb. Something to look forward to now......
  3. Compliance was 5/73. VIN 101368. Engine # 160281
  4. The madness continues..... I bought this car The plan is to have it delivered here to Canberra where I will assess it and make a comprehensive parts list. I aim to order the parts from the USA and have them delivered here. The car and parts will go into a container to my guys in South Africa for a nut and bolt back to original orange colour, to be returned to me in Canberra, for resale. I'll start a separate build thread on it when it arrives.
  5. Nice build thread, ad well done on a great job!
  6. Sorry, got the number wrong, it was #12 in Brisbane, the stripped out shell.
  7. Thanks Gavin. I know it s a long shot and will take time, thats why I decided to put the feelers out now. I will enjoy my '73 until such time as I find the right early numbers car and can restore it. I'm fortunate in that respect. #16 in Brisbane, does anyone know who owns he car and if all the bits are with it?
  8. Yeah Gav, I aim to drive my current car first, this is a medium to long term plan. I think part of my probelm is that I somehow enjoy the build more than the car sometimes lol
  9. You're probably going to think I'm nuts, but here goes: After flipping my first Zed ('71) early last year and doing the nut and bolt on the '73 Zim car, I feel that I have earned a bit of insight into the Zeds. I really want a minter to put into my collection, hence the amount of work that went into the '73. The car is shipping next week and I can't wait to get her here and drive her. BUT, I fear that this will not be the keeper for me in the end. There is something about the early car with the vents in the deck and the different interior that just resonates with me. I would really like to find an early car, restore and put it away to enjoy and pass on to my kids one day. This after I bought another '73 today... gulp. Anyway, if there is anyone out there giving up on a project or deciding to move onto something else, please consider contacting me. It will go to a good home and be returned to its former glory. The Zeds have officially gotten under my skin!
  10. I raced karts for 11 years from my 20's to 30's. Your neck muscles and forearm muscles will take serious strain to start off with. If your seat is padded and it is set up properly for you, your ribs should be fine unless the track is bumpy. Practice, practice, practice! I don't know how fit you are, but you will need to start working on that if you want to be competitive. Sounds like fun though, I miss it.......
  11. HS30 00021 is the South African Press / Demo car that is still in South Africa. It is in pristine condition and until recently lay in a Nissan "dead house" before being bought by a well known collector. I've been trying to negotiate to buy the car but he is adamant that he will never sell. Apparently Nissan Japan have offered to buy the car back from him. The car is metallic blue. You can add this to your list :-)
  12. I've been sorted, thanks to 260z.76.
  13. Hi I've been offered a super clean, one owner, manual 280ZX back in South Africa, with 108,000km on the clock. We would all kill for a 240 or 260 this clean and original. It will land here at about $12k all in and registered, but I can't see that it will sell here at that price. Its a hell of a lot of car for the money, and yet you can't buy a restoration project 240/260 for that price. It just doesn't seem right, lol. If anyone here is interested, I'll be happy to bring the car over for you. [/url
  14. PM me your contact number please.
  15. That looks like them, thanks. Are those a spare set you can sell?
  16. Hi Guys No idea what to call these, but they are the plastic elbows in the front valence that direct fresh air into the blower/fan/heater unit I would imagine. Mine are badly perished and are brittle. Anyone? They are NLA new. Thanks in advance.
  17. About 5 weeks. Looks like I can only get it onto a ship on the 16th Jan which will dock in Sydney at the end of Feb.
  18. The good news is that the paperwork has now been sorted out without moving the car! I'm pretty relieved and could have done without this stress over the weekend. We are now waiting for a booking confirmation for a ship on the 9th Jan. Fingers crossed!
  19. I will get it right, the problem is that the Customs department on the one side of South Africa that cleared the car in, and the customs department on the other side of South Africa that needs to clear the car out, interpret the same set of laws differently.........
  20. I'm not sending the car back to Zim if I can help it! Trying to get the paperwork sorted out his time of the year is a nightmare.
  21. May you all be Blessed this CHRISTmas, and I hope the true reason for the celebration is remembered by all. We are all Blessed and may we continue to be so.
  22. Ok, so the first spanner has been thrown in the works. The cars were delivered to the container depot for loading and customs have refused to clear the Datsun for export to Australia, saying it must go back to Zimbabwe!! Apparently the clearing agents didn't clear with the right code when the car came into South Africa. So, now both cars are going to miss this ship while we sort out the paperwork mess.......... Looks like the cars will only ship in January sometime now. Uuuuughhhh!!!!
  23. The difference is that it was a professional build done by a shop. If I had done this myself, it would have taken a lot longer guys, cut yourself some slack....
  24. Watch this space, there may be another build coming up soon. I can't divulge too much, but working on another two options.......
  25. Jislaaik Gav, you know my lingo??? lol
