  1. Well, D-Day has arrived. The Z is 99.9% finished, and these photos were taken on the last shakedown drive yesterday (RSA is 9 hours behind us). Final polish and fit the badges, and tomorrow at midday, she will be loaded into the container for her trip down under. I hope to be able to post some final photos of her going into the container tomorrow, and then the long wait until early Feb until she is unloaded in Sydney. I will definitely be dropping her an inch when she gets here, and will be changing the wing mirrors to a better set. Otherwise I'm extremely happy with the outcome so far.
  2. Good, now go sit in the naughty corner for giving me a heart attack.......... lol
  3. I was chatting to the owner of the panelshop in South Africa earlier this evening, and he had a funny story to tell. He had loaded the 240Z onto a trailer and was about ready to pull of on the way to the exhaust shop, when a guy pulled up next to him in a Ferrari Californa. Jaco was eyeing out the Ferrari (uncommon in our part of the world), when the diver got out of the Ferrari, pulled out his phone and started taking pictures of the Z! Never thought I would see the day... lol
  4. I'm somewhere between Gav240z and theremm on this one in terms of price. I agree with your sentiment though Gav. I think if I hadn't just sunk so much into my car, I would definitely be interested in this one as well.
  5. What is the opinion on the price? Is $50k a reasonable asking price for this car? I remember taking a bit of flak on my asking price on the yellow car a few months back, and it was quite a bit less than this.
  6. Whats the best way to drop, and can I keep the standard shocks?
  7. Looks like I may have to drop the suspension slightly for those wheels. Running 205/55/15 on the Rota wheels and std suspension.
  8. I was going to "like" your post, but that just seems weird lol
  9. I like the sound of that! Anyway, car is now on wheels and going for exhaust today. Custom 50mm pipe with a nice sporty sound but not too loud I hope. All that will be left for tomorrow is shakedown and fitting final badges etc.
  10. Sometime early Feb. The ship is due to dock on about the 6th, weather permitting, so I'm guessing it will be around the 10th-13th Feb when the car gets here.
  11. Thanks. I haven't calculated the final costs yet, but it is very close.
  12. Looking good Andrew! You and I are going to have to meet up for a drive when both cars are done :-) I suppose I'm going to have to change my Avatar now......
  13. The moment of truth has almost arrived. The interior is in and complete. The car is pretty much done, and is undergoing final polish before the last little bits are assembled. Today, the brakes will be bled and electrics checked. Tomorrow, new exhaust manufactured and fitted. Friday will be its first shakedown drive. The old wheels stay on the car until she is ready to ship so that we don't dirty or damage them on the lovely pot-hole filled roads of Africa :-). I'm expecting that I will have to do final Quality Checks here in Oz, and some minor adjustments, but all in all I'm very happy with the work so far.
  14. Yes. Didn't know that information either, thanks GongZ
  15. Actually Gav, my panel shop raised a point. The original grey tail panel matched the original grey hubcaps. I'm putting on Rota wheels with black centers, so they grey might look out of place. I think I'm going to stick with this for now and see what the overall picture looks like. Its easy enough to rectify after the fact. I'm told the car will be finished by Friday, so I will post some pics when its done.
  16. Appreciate it. Rather fix it now than worry about it later.
  17. Aaah, geez Gav,thanks for that. I didn't know that at all. The guys are going to be pee'd with me now!
  18. Its amazing how sometimes, just adding one thing to a car during the process of a rebuild can make the car look complete, even though its not. In this case, just adding the black surrounds just seems to finish the car off........ Hopefully I will be able to load some more progress photos later today.
  19. The doors and glass are now in, and the doors assembled. Progress is visibly faster now as all of the fiddley bits have been done:
  20. Chris, I'm hoping that I can actually keep the car. I've put it on my website more to just fill the page than anything else, while I'm waiting for more stock to come in. IF, and its a big IF I do sell, I will ask top dollar for this car. A collector in Melbourne has already contacted me and is talking $70k. Again though, I'm hoping to be able to keep it. I never went down this road to sell.
  21. I've got a project 2002 for sale, sent you a PM.
  22. Thanks. I prefer the lines of the Coupe to be honest - personal preference I suppose, just looks more like a fastback / sportsroof.
  23. Ive never seen a two door sedan, could you post a pic please?
  24. Thanks for the input guys. This is what the car looks like at the moment: It would be a pity for this car to go to someone who would want to modify or race!
  25. Two door Coupe. After repaint, shipping etc it would land here at top 240Z pricing territory.
