  1. Thanks guys the blankets are more just dust protectors but I think I might re cover the headliner in a similar pattern . I shouldnt have to remove as much of the sills on the drivers side. Only reason the passengers side had been crashed into a kerb or something and it was all bog filler.
  2. I am in the process of removing rust from behind the wheels and smoothing the rear bumper More pics to come
  3. Thought I better start a write up on my 260z 2+2. Here goes... 1976 260z 2+2, body is stock with rust in all the usual places, paint is very faded. Engine is stock. Was supposedly rebuilt in 2000 and garaged in 2001 where it sat till now. Carburetors where flat tops from a 4cly datsun , so where replaced with a 350cfm holley. Bit of background info on the car. The car was owned till the early 80s by the first owner then sold to the previous owner a female. The car was used as weekend / daily drive, the engine was rebuilt in 2000 and garaged in 2001 till now So hadn't been started in 14 years. I purchased the car without seeing it but with the help of the owner sending many pictures inside and out I put it on the back of a truck and it made the treck from Victoria to South Australia. At home in my shed I gave the carbies a clean, some fresh fuel and a battery and off she went ran little rough but it wouldnt help with the 4cyl carbies. As for now I have left engine work alone and concentrated on rust repair. Now for some pics The old girl back in the late 80s She looks a little bit rough now Some rust removal
  4. Looks like i might have to give them a shot. No harm in trying i guess
  5. Wont they give me stuff all performance. Surely they would constantly be starving the engine of fuel ?
  6. Looks like I will be selling these to a 4cyl datto owner and will be looking for a set of su 240z round tops. But honestly why would you go to all that effort of putting on a set of 4cyl flat tops when the car didnt even run in the first place, might as well have said sorry mate it has no carbies they where shot!!!
  7. So they are better off as paper weights ?
  8. I think that might be an option now gilltech
  9. Definitely doesnt look right :'( the car starts and runs runs but is very slow to take off so It could possibly be causing this as the car needs more fuel
  10. Ok where do I start. I havent even attempted to tune the carbies as I don't have a radiator so cant get the car upto temp. SoI thought I would take a look tonight get my head around the su flattop I had a flick through my 260z service manual to find all my idle and mixture screws. Nothing on the carbies relates to the book I realised the previous owner has removed all the emissions gear on them but other stuff doesn't add up Like idle speed and mixture screws Its a 1976 2+2 260z Thanks guys
  11. Thanks gilltech thats what I figured just the compressor, condenser and the hard lines will be up for sale if the buyer wants them.
  12. I think i may have sorted it myself i have removed the vacuum tank and solenoids. I blanked off the vacuum line into the intake with the brake booster vacuum line and all seems to run fine if i am wrong please feel free to let me know ????
  13. Hi guys I have started disconnecting the A/C on my 260z. I have disconnected the compressor, condenser, receiver, and all copper / flex lines in the engine bay related to it. I haven't disconnected anything Inside the car as I would still like the fan and heating to still be working. What else can be removed ? The aircon vacuum tank or does the provide for other parts of the car, or even the A/C vacuum solenoid. Hopefully someone is able to help me. Also this full kit will be up in the forsale section once its all stripped
  14. Good news guys gave the slave cylinder a service as the piston was seized half way and depressed the clutch and rolled it in gear. All good now good start to the forum guys glad you can help a newbie out ???? I will hopefully start a bit of a build profile for it soon
  15. Hopefully I can get away with not splitting the box away. I just want to rule out the slave cylinder tomorrow.
  16. Thanks guys no the car wasnt running hasn't run for 14 years till yesterday. The master cylinder is original all that was done was a seal kit. But I am hoping tomorrow I can chase up a slave cylinder seal kit so I can rule that out before I start ripping into the clutch
  17. Hi guys and girls First time post I recently purchased a 260z from laz on this site from Victoria and got it trucked to Adelaide quick question. The clutch pedal was flat to the floor so I resealed the mater cylinder and bled the system and now I have a great feel on the clutch pedal. But when I go to put it into gear it just grinds I have good movement on the operating cylinder aswell. What next guys what else could be wrong ? Thanks
