Hi all.. I have fitted the new fuel pump. But still didn't fix my problem!! I checked my spark which seemed quite weak so I got a new dizzy cap and rotor.. Leads are also quite new. Coil is new.. Is there anything else I should check?? Im stumped!!

Ye.. I ended up going with the kit too after wasting money on a 280zx dizzy that was in poor condition.. If your dizzy is in good nick I would go that way

No.. It was was the hose at the back of the car.. After the fuel filter and pump.. I just picked up a pump today.. Hopefully it will fix the problem.. I'll post 2moro after I put it in..

Thanks guys.. That's what I thought. I just changed to a gt40 coil and electronic dizzy, replaced spark plugs not long ago. And got the carbys tuned by Peter mc.. So all that should be fine.. I'll start with that fuel pump first. Thanks again Mikey

Hey guys.. my car has been running quiet well, but on saturday i drove to my brothers place and all was ok.. when i left i got about 100 meters down the road and i lost power, i could only crawl at about 10km/h. even worse up hill. but when i go down hill the car gets power again. it now wont idle without my foot on the accelerator. i changed my fuel filter thinking it may be blocked, but it didnt help. i then took the fuel line off after the fuel pump that is just after the filter and cranked it over, fuel was coming out but it wasnt a steady stream... am i right to think that this is the problem? thanks for the help mikey

Im not too sure which distributor is in my car, but it is a single point so apparently this kit should fit. but the magnet is way too small to fit over the the distributor shaft so i had to grind the top of the shaft down a fair bit to make it fit. so it can be done, its just a bit more time consuming. here is a couple of pics of what was grinded off hope this helps anyone else doing the swap

hey guys, i just bought a pertronix ignitor and tried to install it.. it all seems to go in fine but i cant seem to get the magnet onto the shaft... has anyone installed one of these??

I used to do quiet a bit of airbrushing.. Portraits in shopping centers and so on... Look up matt egan from extreme designs who specializes in automotive.. And also Daniel power who does great work! Mikey

It was a second hand unit.. But was apparently in "good working order"... If I can't manage to fix it I'll probably go for a pertronix kit.. Thanks for all the help guys.

i did the swap on wednesday with no issues.. but unfortunately the 280zx dizzy was not in the best condition, i couldnt seem to get it running properly with it in.. i dont know if something happened to it during shipping but i found the ball bearings rolling around inside and the plastic plate underneath falling apart. so i swapped it back for now until i can hopefully fix it.. would there be much benifit if i swapped the coil for the GT40 instead of the one i bought?

hey guys, i just recieved my 280zx electonic distributor, and i bought a 12V Bosch GT40R coil.. so im going to have a go at swapping them 2moro. i know the write up says to bypass the resistor.. but on the coil it says to "use with resistor" should i still bypass it?? or keep it in?? Thanks Mikey

Hi all... thanks in advance for all the information on the site, its been a great help in researching and learning about zeds. i picked up a 260z 2+2 last weekend its a 1976, auto (unfortunately), with the original L26 and british SU's. The car is in pretty good condition, only a little rust, neat interior and presentable paint it has had a fair bit of restoration work done by a previous owner. it is going to be my "fun" car as i drive a van for work everyday. i plan to keep it pretty original with the excepton of some fatter wheels, lower it a little and down the track a manual conversion.. but first i want to get it running properly as the carbies need a tune. does anyone know of a good place??? here are a couple of pics
