  1. Gold, you have no idea how much i needed that laugh.
  2. I realise that the car does not look like much. The rust you can see is surface rust / rust buster where the metal has been replaced with new sheet. A light sand blast and it is ready for painting. Really the value is in the extras and the car is free considering what i have spent on all the extra parts. This car has a lot of potential. Even posting the pics makes me want to cancel the sale, so only reasonable offers will be considered.
  3. That is why I haven't posted any ...til now :'(
  4. Hi all. My 260z is still for sale/ for sale again. Willing to take $3800 for the lot. I need it gone. :'(
  5. Bump, Will take reasonable offers. Or any if you ask my wife
  6. Bargain...Damn Forgot to mention the car is still registered till May and comes with the original auto box and a spare pedal for the manual conversion.
  7. It is with much sadness that i find myself needing to sell my 260z. Ironically I have just purchased a house with a large shed, including a mechanics pit, but unfortunatly the renovation has drained the budget so the hobby has to go. :'( The car is a 1977 260z. There was rust in the usual places but over half has been cut and replaced with new metal. None is yet bogged so can easily be inspected. Currently it is a rolling shell with the windows still in. I was preparing to finish the rust than get the car blasted before painting so there is a bit of surface rust on the rew steel but nothing to worry about. The extras include: New set of Hyperflex Suspension Bush Kit 1 Box of Bostick Rubber adhesive sound proofing Front spoiler and rear skirt (280z style) Enough Rust bullet paint to do the engine bay and inside the car Full Set of Fiberglass Flares ( Mould in type) New hatch Panel from Rare spares ( Ready to Fit) Finished Headlight upgrade Honda Wiper Motor Conversion (All Working) Plus all the little extras i can find in the shed. The original engine is a bit tired but could be fixed up if desired. I had planned a RB25 conversion and would like to sell the all the parts i have collected as one bundle. Included in the engine package is the RB25det engine, 5 speed manual gearbox, intercooler and piping, skyline tailshaft, skyline exhaust, all the skyline electronics like aircon etc, ecu and loom. Basically all the usefull stuff that you would need from a skyline. I also have an engineered cross member, engine mounts and gearbox mount to suit the conversion. All that is needed is the modified sump, of which there is a spare waiting to be chopped up if need be. There are basically enough parts to get the engine in and running with the option of having electronically controlled climate control. I am really hesitant to sell so please no time wasters. I am asking for $5500 firm for the whole lot. Bring a car trailer and a ute and its all yours. I know that the car doesnt seem like much but the extras will definately keep you going without much extra outlay for a while. I would prefer to sell it all together but if anyone wants to make offers on the car, engine or gearbox seperately i may be interested . Price drop $5000 ono Pics to come.
  8. Congrats mate, my wife is half way along with our first so I can imagine how thrilled you must be. Great to see he is all well and nice to know you will finally have some support for watching sport. All the best mate, Drew
  9. I just did this upgrade on my 260z. I used the following and it works perfectly. 260z Honda Blue---------------Pin 87 Blue White-------Pin 86 Blue Red----------Pin 85-------------------Pin 85-----------Green Black Yellow-------------Pin 87A-----------------Pin 87A----------Blue White Pin 30-----------Blue Black------------------------------------------------------------Black Blue Yellow----------------------------------------------------Blue Yellow Hopefully it all makes sense. I tried a few different ways and this was the only way I got all settings to work.
  10. Does anyone know if the S13W(B) calipers will work with the TP magna rotors. From what I have found the later model calipers suit a 25mm rotor and I think the TP magna rotor is 25mm but just wanted to check first.
  11. Thanks Mick, Thats what I thought but was getting confused by a few forums where it said that you didnt have to splice into the existing harness but rather unplug the old and put in the new. I will give it a whirl and hopefully I dont, end up in the dark. Thanks again mate Drew
  12. Hi all, I have started looking at installing relays and halogen globes instead of the original sealed beams on my 260z. I have looked through all the forums I can find and have a number of different wiring diagrams but have one issue. I am not sure where to splice the wires that go from the relay to the switch. Most of the drawings show a plug that can be used to connect the new harness to the old. This is no issue on the headlight end but I can find the best place at the switch end. As far as I can see I have four wires from the headlights that run through the firewall and from there it is hard to follow. Ask me to build you a kitchen and I can do it in my sleep, but I am a real novice when it comes to wiring, but keen to learn. Hopefull I am not asking a stupid question but any advice would be welcome. Cheers
  13. Just found all the details on hybrid z. I plan to try it tomorrow. http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/17385-improving-the-wiper-motor/?p=574139 Post #155 is where most of it really starts.
  14. Well said scottz and good story! I think a few of those getting disgruntled by the forum should try and look for the good. If you only want car stuff, don't read anything in the general discussion section. There is plenty of car stuff posted everyday. I honestly have been made to feel welcome by everyone. I just posted a brief intro yesterday, not really expecting any replies about my bucket of rust, but still people take the time to say hi and show interest in what you are doing. To me i cant see anything bad in being part of a group of people like that. Good move gav.
  15. Hi all, I have been a member for a few months now and been zed-less the whole time. Finally I was able to pick up my new zed last night. Its an auto 1977 260 2+2. It was for sale on the WA z car website for $5000. In the end I got Max down to $1750. I wished I could have given him more but money and the rusty condition of the car were a problem. So now the fun begins. I previously had a 260z which I had to sell about 18 months ago after a wedding and a few other cash and time holes appeared. Unfortunately i rushed into that one and had it all stripped back for when I had to sell it, and never really got to enjoy driving it. My cash flow problems have been resolved somewhat now and with a baby on the way, it was now or never when it comes to getting a z. My plan for this one is to try and finish one bit at a time while still keeping the car on the road. Eventually it will have new paint a manual box and an RB engine. My brother has a SR20 turbo Datsun 200B which provides plenty of motivation for my car. I already have a set of fiberglass flares i picked up for $150 for all four and a RB25det engine and gearbox with an engineered cross member and engine mounts to suit a 240z. The RB gear is still pending my payment of only $2500 for the whole lot. I have a feeling the 240z cross member may not work as it is, but for the price it was worth grabbing the whole lot together. I cant seem to find where i read about the difference between the 240 and 260 but something tells me it wont be as easy as I would like. If anyone is interested there is a list of parts that came with my car an a few pics in the link below. If you are chasing any of the bits let me know and we can try work something out. Its still all stacked in the car at the moment but I will post stuff in the for sale or free section when I know exactly what I need. http://wazregister.com/zindex.php?action=classifieds&id=13 Thanks for all the info you have all posted, it has already been extremely helpful. Hopefully i can return the favor. Drew
  16. Personally i think the karma is a positive, not so sure on the name but it is an easy way to express your appreciation. Its a bit hard to buy someone a beer for their troubles when they are on the other side of the country so its a good alternative. Remove the negative and let +karma be a digital cheers. Someone will always have more +'s than you but if that bothers you grow up! Remember that we are all here to share what we know and enjoy owning z's. Its not a stupid competition.
  17. Oh yeah of course. Photos posted online matched the google maps pictures. I had a job around the corner and drove past to see if anyone was around and the car was still there. The point is its pretty easy to find out where a car is, even for a simple tradie like me.
  18. Is there any free software that could be linked in the sticky to allow members to do this? I recently search a landline number, via google, for a 260z that was advertised in WA. Although the name with the ad was different to the listing I was able to find the house and see the 260z in the drive on google maps. The bad part is that the owner has been away for the past two months and anyone could do what I did and take advantage. Maybe sticking to using mobile numbers would be a good idea. Might be harder to track. I'm no expert, just a few ideas i had.
  19. I noticed a few were interested in the scraper tool that Scoota used. Just picked one up at my local red and green warehouse in the paint section. Only $21. I actually got it for work (cabinet making) but I'm keen to try it on auto paint. http://www.unipro.com.au/hand-tools/scrapers-blades-and-wood-scrapers?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=1504&category_id=113
  20. Time to add my date of birth to my profile I think
  21. I dont think its trigger happy, especially since the culprit has been caught and this discussion is still open. The incident has brought to light an issue that needs to be considered. It is one that may have previously been overlooked. Maybe instead of a notice telling guests that certain areas are for members only a brief explanation that they are locked for the protection of members privacy might help prevent negative feelings. Free membership could still be offered with an option of donating on sign up. Maybe features like sending a PM, posting and viewing member details could remain locked until members donate. That way new members would get a good taste and if they are seriously interested they can get involved. I know that would rule me out right know but I will be donating as soon as this post is finished, to prevent any hypocracy. I hope you don't think i am having a go at you Agno, I think that its an important issue that should be considered and discussed. Think of facebook. The most successful social media website we know. Try and access someones page without becoming a member or someones friend. Security doesn't always mean scaring people away.
  22. Hi All, This is actually my first post as I am still trying to find a Zed in WA, but honestly I may not have become a member had I not been able to see the value of this forum first. Despite this, I think that member security is really needed. I would have no problem paying a small fee on sign up, maybe guest should only be able to see the titles of posts or even the first entry to give them a taste of what they can find in the forum. Member locations could also be hidden. Realistically though, as many have said we need to think about how much info we put online. Like MaygZ said, use PM's people and get to know someone before you share your details with them. Unfortunately social media has become one of the latest ways for the devious to work their magic. I guess it would be irresponsible not to make some changes to protect our privacy. But once again like Maygz said where the staple are put needs to be carefully considered so as not to kill of such a valuable resource.
