  1. Yeh I looked at the CAMS site Viking but a search throws up nothing, zero.
  2. Is there one place to go to which has all the Phillip Island sprints and regularities scheduled for this year? I'm looking at coming down early summer, preferably at a time when there are two events close together. But PI lists bugger all, who runs sprints there?

    QLD Mini Lapz

Yeh, this will be good Get some incar video cameras going too blokes to post on YouTube, going to have two cameras on the Z. Use your phones, there are lap timing apps available.
  4. No news from any of the Z boys? Did a YouTube search too but nothing there either, a bit disappointing. Oh well, R32 GTS-t, RB20DET donk, which won Early Modern beating Porkers and stuff, came 5th outright too. Some bad language near the end.
  5. Outright Classic. We had Siddins/Ferguson, Cardinaels/Page, Lowe/Lowe and Gainer/StGeorge, all have dropped out leaving a bloody TR7 in front. Golden opportunity with Broadbent pranging the Porka and the two V8 Supercars, err Toranas, failing as well. No news on the Targa site, anyone know any details?
  6. Here we are BigCol
  7. Talky springs Yeh, should be in/lbs. The pic sort of confirms a feeling of slightly excessive front roll, diagonal twist I call it where the outside front dips down so raising the inside rear and setting the car up for a oversteer spin. Dampers are three way adjustable so hopefully will be able to work with the new spring rate.
  8. Got my BicgCol masterpiece printed as a poster, as a result of looking at the car's attitude in the pic and driver feeling I'm going to uprate the front springs by 50 ft/lbs.
  9. Thanks for the kind offer Gordon, I'm definately hooked.
  10. Two PI weekend conseutive sprints may be of interest to me when summer arrives, providing that is not the rainy season. Yes, I love PI
  11. Watch out, plenty of cars start out to be dual purpose but one day you realise it's no longer a road car. You and your black beauty may be next The bloke who took the pic is giving away free high res copies and has some for car's #33, 63 and 136. From memory #33 is Alan Fielding's car, anyone have email addresses for any of the drivers?
  12. By popular demand, the pic you all have been waiting for
  13. Get several VG motors for one hot L series after having a chat with Peter Mac from Collins engines at the Nats Living in Vic would help too.
  14. No nominated time from me because I was a PI newb, just like a few others. But car specs, lap times at other circuits and driver experience should give a fair indicator. Anyway, basically I'm just trying to give some feedback. Having been involved in Nationals myself I know it's not easy.
  15. Similar speeds? Mate, have a look at this as just one example where I was puttering around just trying to work out the circuit, I have others.
  16. No problems Dave, I can see your point about circuit choice and it's entirely valid, your previous comments about Lakeside come to mind too. To be fair to all though I think that a the best circuit for a Nationals is one that has something for everyone and I believe that the circuit Jason and I have in mind does that. The other thing is that to me a race circuit should have at least some of the characteristics of the world class circuits which includes fast, flowing and high speed challenging parts. Otherwise what is it? Some sort of enlarged gokart track? On regularities, I hope to do one at Bathurst next year just to experience that track so I am not totally against them. It's more the time thing, a few laps at a time does me, driving round and round for more than that becomes boring as you slow down to preserve the car.
  17. The MP circuit you mention Jason has been run before, I was there spectating and it was great. Bill Campbell seems quite keen on using it but I get the impression that it 'does not suit' a lot of the MP regulars, not sure why. PI was great, it's so wide and fast, love every sweep and corner. Would like to go again but not for a bloody regularity
  18. Great event, well organised and well run, the amount of preparation that went into it was obvious. Very well done NDSOC But I do have an issue with the sprints where last time the newbies had a proper introduction to the circuit that was missing this time. The supposed intro session for NDN13 felt like a dodgem car event with all levels of experience out at once when what was really needed was a newbie group being given a chance to sort out directions, lines etc without getting in the way of anyone else. Also, the no passing in corners rule was ignored by some with no apparent penalty for what is I assume a safety breach. PI is a track that requires more learning than most, if only for safety reasons. With AASA in Q newbs are run in their own group irrespective of their car and this seems to work well both from a safety and learning perspective.
  19. Green flag = end of first lap Actually for a Nationals I support the use of Morgan Park. The main problem I have is the use of the comfort zone circuits with the suburban street type corners and not the real race circuits where speed is involved. My understanding is that most of the visitors would prefer the faster options too.
  20. A bit of incar PI sprints video, camera kept stopping so this is about it
  21. Starting to sound like a broken record Jason. On the subject of safety, most of the fast sprint cars are later models which are way superior safety wise to the 60's 70's stuff. Cars like old Datsuns, Minis, are death traps compared, there is a reason why they are light. As for power, spend some money and get a pro to do the engine work. Not just any pro, there are a couple of guru's down south who are doing great work with L6's, particularly with heads which afterall are the key to power.
  22. It is in the sup regs, your allocated number, one on each door.
  23. Just in case it's not in the sup regs, what numbers are required and where. Assuming we are to supply our own.
  24. So much for my turbo power, on a good lap I can hit 210kph a bit further on at the kink. You NA boys should be creaming me
  25. If people don't want to do cruisey laps (regularity) or serious laps (sprints) at PI what do they actually want to do that is not catered for? Serious question, it is a car club thing though.
