  1. Actually if your going to use cad, better use something like Mechanical Desktop so you can then use a 5 axis CNC to do the badges. Alternativally, if somone send a good one in, i can sand cast them at dad's work, in ally, brass, bronze or iron. We would have to make some good blanks first
  2. So can i ask how much you payed for it, dam i thought my 2+2 was bad, well it is bad but it as coverd under about 240kg of BOG. LOL.
  3. Here is the guy i have been in contact with, his stuff looks really good, he sent me some pics and so forth. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-Nissan-L24-L26-engine-kit-240Z-260Z-1970-74_W0QQitemZ190315479097QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMotors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories?hash=item2c4fafc039 The other mob is good but expensive and is a HIGH performance part supplier, so more costly. The other guy is a basic engine rebuild kit.
  4. Well a full rebuild kit, from the US, with new pitsons, rings, mains and rod beatings, gasket kit, opil pump ect ect if $600Au deliverd. A set of pistons at Bursons alone of $290 plus $90 rings. Gasket set is $110.
  5. you could call Mick the Z man in Dover, there is not much that guy does not have. Pm me and i'll give you his number
  6. Yep, being a Mechanical engineer has it's purks, got access to just about anything.
  7. Autocad, Autodesc Ecotect, ArciCad, RevIt, 3DE max....... Check and Check Phenix, Fluid Flow, Pro Flow, Solid Works, Mechanical Desctop...... Check Check Proficient in NISSAN Data Chip software, tunning PFC's and had a play with Wolf.
  8. there was a genuine Z AC system on Gbay the other day for $700 Most 2+2 have them but not the 2 seaters.
  9. define well priced. A new set with manifold and all the shits and gigles in a 40 or a 45 from the US is $1600 landed in oz.
  10. You should have no trouble getting 10K for it, unfortunalty not much of a fan of 280's but dam that look hot. Good luck, love the wheels and the colour scheme, one tidy car that's for sure.
  11. is this a proper big bore kit with new crank or a L28TD crank whcih yeaild shizenhouser bore rod ratios and angles? Ta
  12. yeah, but throtle body injection is exy, and if i was doing that iw ould be doing it to an engine i am willing to spend BIG bucks on. And eaven tehn noth worth in on an L series motor, RB for me in that case. Ta
  13. Thanks mate, yeah i was always thinkgs webers, Found a full Kit in teh US, with manofild, proper linkages carbs and so forth for $1600Au delivered so that' s ok. Also lookign at engine kits, theer is a few manufacturers in the US offering complete engine kits, BUT, is it chepper to buy parts speratly in Oz, who sells stuff for Z's that is cheep, like Bursons and so forth for oil pumps and alike. Does anyone make a VRS gasket kit for a Z. I know i will be using a Nissan head gasket as from what i have read all the others are s h it.
  14. Thanks mate, Yeah i was always going to home the head, i was actually going to bore it out one size up as the machining is free, my mate has a mill and a cnc and a lathe, you name it we can build it. In terms of valves and so forth, the head will be getting new over sized valves as i have a E88 head. I was going to purchase a cam kit from the Us which comes with new aprings, rockers, Hang it, here it is http://www.thezstore.com/page/TZS/PROD/PEM01/10-2000 However i have not made my mind up. Flat top pistons will definitely be the go. I don't suppose anyone else has brought a cam kit, complete with new valve springs and so forth? Thanks for the post guys keep em coming
  15. Ok so what your saying, is keep a stock bottom end, with new main and rod bearings, from there flat top pistons. Ok so the head then, port and polish, perhaps weld up a little to allow for hight compression, lightened fly wheel, lightened balancer. Decent set of extractors and now for fuel. i have always wanted a set of tipple webers, BUT, cost, the cheapest i can get a NEW set is $1500 with webers from Italy ($890) and a manifold with everything including soft mounts, linkages ect for $400 plus freight. For the same price i can get a new set of SU 240 round tops like i have, or rebuild mine quite easily. How much would going to a tripple weber benefit the car, VS keeping the 240 round tops. Hum decisions decisions
  16. that would be the ones
  17. Yeah currently running NOCP V1 not V2, which i have a link to if anyone is interested.
  18. Well currently the stock setup reves to 7000 rpm, not sure why but it does. I was goign to do mild crank lightening but custom nice and light rods and pistons. We will see where we go, eaven if the engine makes 200+ HP at the fly i will be happy for a sunday driver. Instead of more power i will run a 4.2 or a 4.4 diff and use the gears instead. Ta
  19. AHHH that makes a little bit more sence. As far as i am aware it can only be the tare weight of that model, not range so i don't think you can use the 280z weight. I have a 2+2 260 with aircon but no way of weight it. Humm will do some more poking arround for you
  20. it's the manufacturers tere weight. Humm the RTA does not list it found it 1020kg tare weight, why do you need that for tassie?

    Rota Wheels

DAM YOU, i hate it when i'm broke. LOL.
  22. Sweet as My dad works at a Brass and Locks place in Lton Tas, i use to work there. We have our own polishing bins, with different grade buffing stones, chuck a aprt in and it comes out smooth like a babys bum. I'll be trying my manifolds there. We also do our own polishing and buffing and blasting so bonus for me. The manifolds look great.
  23. COME on, lets orgornize a groop buy somone surly http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Datsun-240-260-panels_W0QQitemZ280417790667QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item414a33eacb

  25. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240z-1971-Sports_W0QQitemZ220503607101QQcmdZViewItemQQptZAU_Cars?hash=item33570a073d#ht_500wt_1182 Up for grabs- 1971 Datsun 240Z- one owner vehicle that has been in the family since new. Registered. Original 86649 miles- always garaged and only driven on special occasions This vehicle has had minor rust repairs as would be expected of a car this age, unfortunately (and disappointingly) the paint match done by the panel beater is not 100% correct- still looks very neat. The only other fault with the vehicle is one small tear in the drivers seat (upper boulster?) This car has been extremely well looked after, and is a reluctant sale. For any further information please contact Paul on (03) 5155 5243 BUY it now, $28,000 i don't think so.
