I did a bit of a search here on the forums to see if anyone had tried to repair the grip on their original Zed's steering wheel. I may have missed something but I couldn't find anyone who had tried (or bothered) There are some companies out there that either restore the wheel skins by re-injecting them with polymers or products you can buy yourself, but they seem to have mixed results. Here's the wheel from my 260z that I was thinking of restoring If anyone has any info or ideas on this I would greatly appreciate it.

Yeah I really feel like a tool now :'( Tanunda is bigger than you think, but where I live it's likely I heard the cars yesterday. I don't usually pay a lot of attention as there seems to be enthusiast car clubs here almost every week of the year. Hot Rods we're a couple of weeks ago, they rally's all come through here, Classic Adelaide, even the stupid tour downunder...........I think this means I'm a spoiled little brat! I had previously joined the R31 Skyline Club Forum's also (I've got a crappy R31 GXE), and I always missed them when they came through. I will try to make it to this Sunday's meet but I've got to scrape together enough cash to register the old girl which could result in a headlock from my wife See what I can do, I've never driven her that far either due to carby problems. I think it's only half sorted but I'll try to work on it this week.

It's an L28, twin SU's with 5speed. F54 Block, N42 head. I don't know if the internals are stock yet as I haven' taken anything apart. Don't know when it will end up looking something like the photo I posted but you've got to set goals right!?

Yeah I actually thought they'd closed. Came across them somewhere once before but then couldn't remember the name. Just had a look at the cars parked in their drive way with google earth street view. I love the interminetz!

I had a lot of trouble with my flat-top SU's. I honestly thought they were worn out so I removed them and cleaned them up a bit including replacing the gaskets in the power valves with home made ones. However, I never got a decent result from them until I put the K&N oval filters back on (not shown in the photo) and ran the air/mix breather and vacuum hose in to each of them. The design of the flat tops means you have another air inlet at the front carb which is supposed to balance air / fule mixture between both carbs rather than adjusting the needles. It's all good in theory but it's just another point of breakdown when these things start to wear out. It's a pitty there doesn't seem to be any useful information on the flat tops or mods you can do to improve them and overcome their shortcommings. Flat tops actually have some marked improvements over the older dome tops but at the cost of complication. Looking at this photo now, I had it all wrong. The next step will be to reduce intake turbulence with some sort of Ram tube rather than the K&N filters

Yep, I like the clean and simple look. Hate tarted up cars with wings and flares that aren't smooth and proportionate. Nothing against the guys who have them but it's just not my taste. No one wants to live with the girl that wears fish nets and a mini skirt 24/7 (or do they?)

I've edited the photo, the original picture had those screw on flares. I just blended them in to the body so they looked like one unit

I thought I'd upload an inspiration photo. This is something like what I want her to end up looking like. I'm no genius with photo editing so it's not exact. I hope the original owner of this 2+2 doesn't mind me "improving" his car a little!

Well, after sticking a screwdriver through some of the subframe and the floor like it was cardboard, I have a feeling they tried to cover up some serious structural rust before sale. I was discouraged when I first discovered it but after seeing what others have done to fix their rust problems I'm not shaking in my boots quite so much. I think I'm just scared to get started. I can drive it at the moment and ejoy it, but when I begin this project the car will likely be out of action for 12 months or more.

Mine's gun metal grey......wait, that's not silver. Let's call it silver with a sun tan.

Guess you'd call it gun metal grey. It has a flec in it but the effect is lost without the clear coat over it. I want to keep the colour but It will need a respray once the rust and bog is removed. This is going to be one hell of a learning experience, just hope I can stick to it.

I admit I'm severely addicted to Datsuns, epsecially Zeds. Perhaps someone should start a Datsun Addicts Anonymous forums somewhere. Anyhow, here's some more photo's of the car just after I bought her. After finding what looks like an old rego sticker in the center console, I have a feeling the car used to be somewhere in Western Australia. If there's anyone out there that recognises this car, or maybe you used to own it then give me a shout, I'd love to know it's history.

I live in SA. The paint job would have looked awesome when it still had the clear over it, unfortunatelly it was a botch job by a previous owner and most of it has peeled off. I'm pretty sure there's an illegal amount of Bog in some of the lower panels also. I took the car for it's first "non-backfiring" drive today after sorting out some issues with the Carbies. I bought this car a year ago so how slack am I!

I've owned Datsun/Nissan cars for the past 15 years but nothing has been as special as owning a Z car. Firstly I owned a 76 120Y, then I bought a second 120Y as a sr20DET project but it never went anywhere. Then I bought an SII bluebird and then a 1990 Skyline GXE. Getting Married and having kids put the brakes on sticking an RB25DET in that car, but when I saw the '75 260z 2+2 come up for sale in my area, well... all logic went out the window. I drove her home running on 5 cylinders, bad synchro on 2nd gear and enough petrol fumes to ruin my taste buds for a day, but I didn't care, I was blinded by love! (hope my wife doesn't read this)
