I have asked them for additional dimensions like spacings of mounting holes but they just tell me to look closely at the photos they have put up. I guess I will just need to take a punt and get one and see if it will fit. Thanks Mickl

Further examination of the evilbay aluminium three core radiators going for between $150 and $200 delivered has got me confused. Most of them look very similar with core size 588x350x56mm, overall size 690x474x80mm. All adverts say up to 1975 year model, however, there are none adverising suitable for 1977 model. One place I emailed actually said their unit would not fit a 1977 car. Now it seems strange to me that this could be so and none of the earlier posts on this topic have actually said what year model car that they have installed these radiators on. So has anyone put one on a `77 yet and did it fit up easily? I need to get one soon so thanks in advance Mickl

Thanks all for your help so far. I will be doing the jacking etc later this week but am thinking that the front rubbers could be alright , if they were already torn the motor might have slipped forward but the brackets would have not bent. It does seem to point to the rear mounting rubber but all will be revealed soon. I can`t remember how close the fan was to the radiator before this but it is well into the core now. More at the top than the bottom. Not sure if that difference bears any significance to the faiulre of the mounts

I had a better look this morning and the rubbers seem intact! Front 2 mounts are bent and I guess they will either need straightening and reinforcing or new ones found. Pictures show the bends each side. The rear mount has rotated from horizontal a bit bit looks intact otherwise. The diff mounts look Ok but all will need checking once on a hoist I have noticed that the suspension cross member has kinked a little on both sides from the engine moving....fortunately I have a spare one of these in the shed. I can`t tell if there is any damage to the rails just yet.

I too am up for a new radiator after mashing the original with the clutch fan yesterday. There are many on evilbay for under $160 and free postage which is fantastic. I note many people responding to this topic have had minor mounting issues too. Many are adverised as "1970 to 1975 " however mine is a 1977 2+2 auto so is there a difference between a `75 and a `77 which is significant?? Thanks in advance Mickl

I was just down the road and had to stop very quickly yesterday with wheel lockup and tyre smoke etc. I got home only to discover the engine had slipped forward and the clutch fan has mashed the radiator up. Looks like the momentum of the engine has bent the side engine mount brackets. The rear one also looks like it is damaged too but its a bit harder to see from a rough inspection. The brackets don`t look rusty. Has anyone else experienced this problem? I guess I now have to get hold of new brackets and mounts from somewhere....any suggestions anyone? Will the engine need to come out? Is it possible that there is damage to the rails? I am not that mechanically minded so would appreciate any help in pointing me in the right direction. I have some wide steel wheels but the stud holes are flogged out a bit. Does anyone out there repair them or is it possible to get wheel nuts which have a larger head? Thanks Mickl

Thanks for the responses gents. Seems a no brainer now and I will go and search the shed for the old blue air filter box and put it back on. I presume it will fit on the round top su carbs. Cheers Mickl

Hello I am a learner on this topic so I am seeking some help to get me going with my carbys....I have a `77 2+2 with two round top SU type carbs equipped with circular paper air filters about 150 mm diameter. I have been told that removing the filter housings and replacing them with ram tubes equipped with foam air filters should result in a noticeable improvement in performance. My questions are: is the above info correct? If so, how do I size the existing carbs so that I can buy the correct size ram tubes? And where best to buy them? Is this conversion simple to do for a mug like me, and is it worth doing? Thanks in advance Mickl

Hello people I bought a full set of splashguards from MSA in the States and put them onto my 2+2 recently. They fit the front wheels very nicely as can be seen in the pix. The backs were much more difficult to fit as the moulded shape does not quite fit the nice curve of the rear guard. I tried a bit of minor reshaping which improved them but there is still a 5 mm gap for a distance in the middle of the guard. They still are a vast improvement on the old rubber flaps which I had onthe rears before and the disgusting bent rubber flaps which came original on the front guards. They don`t quite project as far out from the body as my tyres at the back but I have some widened rims which has caused this. Anyone with std wheels will find the protrusion a better match. Cars with flares will not find them suitable. I found MSA particularly helpful when dealing with them. Cheers Mickl

I used to keep a notebook with details taken from the Saturday herald classifieds of any car models I was interested in buying. I just found this old book during a cleanout and there is a page with details of about 15 zeds for sale over a 5 week period in March/April 1983. Most were 240`s priced between $4300 and $5300 The 260`s were dearer in those days and between $5000 and $6000 I ended up buying a 260 for $3700 a couple of months later but didn`t keep it very long. If only I had chosen a 240 and kept it til now! mickl
