Hi All, Just though I would throw up some info in regards to car weight and distribution. Though it might be handy for anyone looking for numbers when building a Zed. I just finished a first pass corner weight setup on the car and found out the following... Car Specs: Model : 1972 240Z Engine : 302 Windsor with Alloy heads, intake and water pump. Gearbox : Supra 5 Speed Alloy case with steel sandwich plate. Rear end : R200 with mechanical LSD. Suspension and Brakes : Full AZC Setup. Steering : Subaru Power Steering rack and Ford Power steering pump. Wheels and Tyres : 17*9 3 Piece Rims with 235/45/17 RE011 Bridgestones Body Mods : Fiberglass Bonnet Additional stuff : Half cage (welded in), Evo 8MR Seats, Full Carpet Trim, Re-enforced and extended chassis rails, Unknown body work (included small steel flares and no idea how much filler) Results: Cross Weight @ 50% Car Weight (Including half a tank of Fuel and all fluids + Driver) : 1197.5 Kg Weight Distribution (Driver In) : 51% Front, 49% Rear. Car Weight (Including half a tank of Fuel and all fluids) : 1127.5 Kg Weight Distribution (Driver Out) : 52% Front, 48% Rear. If anyone wants more info or wants to add with their own, go for it. Cheers

Thread resurrection time! Please excuse the hijak. I have just installed an R33 MC and Booster (ABS) along with the std 240z clutch master cylinder. I had to drill two new holes for the R33 booster, file off a couple of the raised numbers on the side of the clutch master and roll the edge of the booster a couple of mm (not sure if this is even needed). As you can see from the pictures below it all fits.....just (with a few mm to spare), please ignore the hard lines, this was a test to see if it would all fit so the hard lines are a little random....(disclaimer done!) I am running the AZC big brake kit (6 and 4 spot calipers front and rear) and was running the std booster with a 15/16 MC previously. This worked fine and felt ok, although the booster assistance was a little lacking at times. With the new system bled there is a big difference (as you would imagine), much more positive feel and a lot more assistance. I have not run this on the track yet so time will tell how much i need to adjust the balance for front to rear. My car is also running a 302 Windsor in case there are any differences in engine location etc. For a quick drive around the block the brake pedal now feels a lot like the pedal in my brothers AMG C63, if that helps anyone. Its the only car that i have driven with big brakes and similar pedal feel....other than the fact it weighs A LOT! but i digress..... Thats all for now. Cheers

Open to options! Cant find much locally at the moment. Can you PM me price etc please?

Hi, I am looking for a rear hatch in rust free condition, with or without glass. Paint condition does not matter as it will be stripped and repainted to match my car. As long as it is straight and rust free I am interested. Anyone have anything laying around? Cheers

So, quick update, finally got the Z to the track. Suspension settings are a huge improvement! much better turn in and now i can feel whats happening mid corner, thanks to all suggestions. Now I just need to work on the shocks and driver.....
-
Cheers! You dont happen to have any pics of the area you trimmed do you? I am not sure if the issue is related to the rims I am running, 17*9 with a +17 offset (R32 GTR). Or if its just normal for a Z?

So, Had the wheel alignment adjusted today by a race guy here in Perth, Front now running 3 degrees neg camber, 2 degrees pos castor, total 0.9mm toe in. Rear now 3mm rear toe in, 2.25 deg neg camber. Cant run much more castor as running out of space in the wheel arch apparently (if that makes sense). So now to get it to the track and see where to go from here.

Righto! Thanks for your input everyone! I think i will start at the cheaper end of your suggestions Lurch! ie the alignment settings, and work from there....I have already warped the rotors once and upgraded them to something that doesnt warp. In regards to my 'racing' the car is not a full time race car, so I dont think a full brake change is worth the hassle at this stage. I will no doubt stick with the current dampers as it becomes a costly excersise to change everything all at once. It is interesting to hear your thoughts on the AZC gear, i have not heard much from people using his gear in anger before. The MCA suspension is on the wish list already.... In regards to other questions, i am using a 15/16th MC and i think the front sway bar is 22mm and the rear 19mm.

Hi Guys, I am in need of some advice for setting up suspension on my car from scratch, but first things first, specs below: I have a 1972 240Z with a 302 windsor and 5 speed manual (dont shoot me!). I am running the full Arizona Z suspension setup including the big brake kit and have a half cage and extended sub-frame connectors. I am running on 235/45/17 bridgstone R comps My alignment settings at the moment are: Front Castor = 0.00 (L&R) Front Camber = 2.01 Degrees (L&R) Front Toe = 0.08 (L&R) Rear Camber = 2.4 (L&R) Rear Toe = 0.00 (L&R) Now! I am finding a finding a few issues on the track: 1) high speed braking feels very (twitchy) and the car squirms at the rear 2) Mid corner steering feel is very low, as in i am finding it difficult to figure out how much grip i have mid corner (if this makes sense) I have 250lb springs front and rear and the shocks are set to about 6 clicks from the hardest settings (bump and rebound adjustment in one). I was just wondering if anyone has any suggestions/settings or is using the same gear so I can work out where to start adjusting. Thanks in advance Zak

Shake down motorkhana laps for my V8 Zed, had just fitted a rear sway bar, new tyres and am getting used to the Zed handling. Runs a 302 windsor (Alloy heads, 288 Cam, 600 Holley blah blah blah) with 5 speed supra gearbox, Arizona Z suspension and brakes, half cage, chasis rails tied in to rear. Weight: 1100kg without driver or fuel. -
