There's rust and then there is rust! Rust in the floor, sills, doglegs chassis rails and hatch shut panel is one thing, common enough and there are plenty of examples of how to fix with either enough time or $$s. But rust around the perimeter of the roof and in the windscreen frame down into the A-panel in my opinion takes the job to a whole new level as evidenced by my poor old rustbucket. I agree with Simon that it's a 240z and it's worth whatever it's worth to the adventurer who buys it, but I disagree with the "faith and trust" I've been shafted every time. I really hope someone does get to buy it to restore, but does so accurately informed and well aware of what they are likely to be getting in to. I'd love to add it to the collection but personally would not gamble much more than $1k.

Looking at the photo of the rust bubbles above the drivers door I would recomend anyone considering this car look at the photos of my '71 Rust Bucket to see what is likely to lie beneath. It might not be showing as much rust as mine overall, but mine had fewer visible bubbles along the roof line, suggesting the inner roof rails and therefore the structure of the car will be at least as badly compromised. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,7394.0.html A worthy addition to the "Dead Zed Collection" :'( ...for about 10% what is being asked

Wow! Since when did "parts car" 2+2's start going for $1500 That's 2 rusty 260z 2+2's in the last week on ebay in Brisbane that have gone for $1500+, I don't think the first one was even running Anyone going to own up 'cause it wasn't me?

Had a quick look at it yesterday and it is a bit of a dog, well worn and frayed around the edges. If it was a 2 seater you would pick it up and restore it but as a 2+2 :-\ I gather there's a decent amount of rust underneath and it's in the chassis rails as well as then the usual spots. Unfortunately those panels that are not so visibly rusty are generally bashed or showing evidence of cracked body filler. The interior didn't look complete either but on the plus side it did start. Supposedly a few people have been to look at it. Just waiting for him to call me back...

Jesse, I have a PDF of "280-Z Electronic Fuel Injection -Theory -Troubleshooting". Also have 1978 FSM and the 1979 wiring diagram, between these I was able to methodically diagnose and fix my 1979 280zx. If you want a copy PM me your email address, it's about 3.8Mb. I also highly recommend replacing it with megasquirt. I did MS2 on mine, learn't a lot about EFI making it work and went a hell of a lot better too. Mike

Don't say sold yet!!!! It takes courage, finesse and more than 1 weekend between "honey, I've found this Z, and it's really cheap" (not to mention my pants are in the washing machine and you know who controls that ) But seriously if he's southside and no one else is showing interest I might get brave. Looking at the photo's it's a far cry from unrestorable and in better nic than 1.5 of the 3.5 Zs in the collection

What side of Brissie is he on? I can add it to my "Dead Zed" collection which currently stands at 3.5 My wife really will probably kill me given I only brought another one home last weekend

I'm sure I've seen that image used when discussing inadequate brake calliper clearance. Supposedly the calliper cleared by a whisker, when cold and when cruising, but not under high speed braking and cornering. IIRC no particular critiscim was directed at the wheel, just the owner
