  1. hey jp240z, youve probably seen it, not new and needs repairs but you mite be able to tidy it up if your desperate for a console to get you by for now ? -chris. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-260z-centre-console_W0QQitemZ120094886016QQihZ002QQcategoryZ102336QQtcZphotoQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  2. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cant beleave that ! 470 bux !!!
  3. i bought a set of cyrstal cut h4 lenses of ebay for about 60 bux , put 90/100 h4 bulbs in and a "new era" relay and u nearly get welding flash ! i found over the years of playing with cars that have stiff suspension you seem to blow lights heaps more when there over 100 watt (thats my experience) im keen on a set of hid bulbs and ballasts though, ive been studying them for months on the net, and if you actualy want bright light dont go over 6500k as higher goes blue, violet then purple and these are more for the "bling" factor ! hey evan how much does your mate want for h3c & high/low h4 hid ? id be keen as ! thanks -chris.
  4. nah sorry dalee, it was in a '65 ap-6 val. i did end up turbo and injection on it in the long run (544hp@ 5800) great fun ! actually i think that im still paying for that car ! id still be very keen to have a look at that article though. thanks - chris.
  5. hey sulio, have you checked these out on ebay mate ? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Datsun-240Z-260Z-L24-L26-L28-triple-Dellortos_W0QQitemZ200080099830QQihZ010QQcategoryZ102336QQtcZphotoQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem ive had 45 delortos & 45 webers and 2inch su's on the same engine 265hemi, (dont hold it against me) lol, years ago and there was a big difference from the su's to the webers in responsiveness and fuel consumption ! but the delortos where marginaly better again i recon ! i have to agree - the linkages and jets must be good quality ! youve gota love the sound of a nicely tuned set of webbers or delortos though ! i think theres 48 changeable parts all up in the 3 carbs so dont get them off another style of engine and think youve just gota change a cupla jets ! 15years ago it cost a grand to do on my old hemi ! good luck -chris.
  6. hahahaha ! hows the drivers names on the side window of the race car van posted back on page 6 of this thread ! wot a crackup ! (ooops ! i hope no 1 knows them) ! luv the silver car on youtube ! bugger of a driveway to get out of by the looks!
  7. very nice ! good to see a bit of inpiration !
  8. thank you scott, i couldnt get that other one you sent me to run. that looks impressive! chris.
  9. hi george, i thought you would've gotten more bites from the "mexican" statement ! lol ! were not all from down that way. ive only been a zed owner for a little while now and learnt heaps from this site. their a helpfull bunch of fellas ! - chris (banana bender)!
  10. hey gday, has anybody got any photos or diagrams of the chain setup ? im fairly new to independant bums and i have no idea what you mean or how its set up ? - thanks chris.
  11. hey mate, dont force it in or let the gearbox hang halfway out without a jack under it either while youre trying to slot the box into the clutch either, or youl warp the clutch plate, and dont try to "clamp" up the gap between the bellhousing and engine block with the bolts! it should push home with a bit of wriggling if youve got the clutch correctly aligned. take youre time mate youl get it ! -chris.
  12. thats an awsome effort on your behalf ! luv ur work ! - chris
  13. ok im not sure about the zeds throw out bearing but most cars are press on sorry for the miss information zedevan ! i didnt realise zeds have a complete unit, thanx for the correction, zeddophile ! - chris. ps - id probably take up rod f's offer of the input shaft, as its the most accurate way to do allign it !
  14. hey mate, something i shoulda probably mentioned earlier.....you should chuck a new throwout bearing in it as well while your at it, as there would be nothing worse than getting all the work done and driving it for a few weeks then hear the bearing start to squeel its head off at the traffic lights! then you gota pull it all out again, just the sake of 20 or so bux ! as for the machining of the flywheel.....its the same sort of story, as itl have grooves & maybe fine cracks from"wear & tear" which makes a uneven "mating"(for the lack of a better word. lol !) suface for your new clutch plate, so that will shorten the life span a fair amount just bedding it in, and im sure you dont want to go through this lil mission to soon. ohh now that im thinking in advance .......you might be able to get whichever machine shop you goto to press the throwout bearing on as well mate, and if you know anybody with a alignment tool to suit the datsun, or a front shaft out a gearbox, this will help heaps to ! good luck mate, keep us posted on how you go -chris.
  15. hey mate, you should be able to put the dust cover in after youve got the gearbox back in anyway, so dont worry about it till youre cars back on the road, just dont go rallying till its in there  ! maybe even put some duct tape over the hole till you do get one so nuthing gets in to your new clutch. chris.
  16. get someone to push the clutch in while you have a look at the slave cylinder on the side of the bellhousing (which should move approx 30mm+) when they depress the pedal. if it does that then your hydralics shouldnt be the problem, next take note of the throwout fork see if it seems to flex at all . try take the rubber boot off and look in the hole where it goes in and you mite be able to see the pivot as well (im not sure as im not knowledged on the datsun gearbox, correct me if im wrong fellas) while your friend is still on and off the clutch, have a bo-peep around in there, you never know what youl find . if everything is looking like it doing as its told, im affraid its time to get the box out sorry to say. good luck mate! -chris.
  17. i agree with gav, the first thing id do would be check the throwout forkand pivot for damage before dropping your wallet into it !
  18. yeh ive been tossing the idea around for a while now, and i think the rb30et (384kw @5500) mite have to go in the skyline, as it bolts straight in computer and all eccept a lil fuel pump circuit mod and the cars all ready regoed so its a weekend job (fingers crossed)! the rb25 na was dynoed at (187kw@6700) so itd stir the zed up quiet alright i recon especially with the ems aftermarket pc ive got sitting in the shed ! using the twin cam head on the 30, from what ive heard doesnt make that much difference as far as hp goes its more efficient though(appearently) so ill probably keep both engines intact and maybe later down the track ill swap engines over visa versa ! this stuff is like lego so you never know! lol ! i think in the long run the rb30 has gota go in the zed but ! chris....................ahhh shit i dont know!
  19. congrats mate youve gota be stoked with that ! i would be eating, sleeping and driving in that car for at least a 2weeks or so if i were you, i think its compulsory isnt it ? lol !
  20. hey sco_aus id be up for a look at that file if you could send it to me please? ive got an r31 and the 260z + rb30et and a rb25de im juggling which engine for which car. it may just convince me one way or another :? ! chris
  21. yeh but it wasnt a rack, it was a steering box that was in that 280zx ! my manual says only racks in all the zeds???
  22. i went to a local nissan wreckers hunting around for a rack that mite fit a few months ago and found a 280zx(not sure what series), looked under the bonnet, and i couldnt believe it but it had a power steering box no rack ! does anybody know anything about this as i couldnt believe my eyes ? is that factory or did someone have a crazy conversion done on this car ? it did look std though ! chris
  23. good to hear ! my z has a heap of rust and were slowly getting rid of it, im teaching my 13 year old son how to do rust repairs (and hes doing great!). hope it all goes well for you, mig welding is pretty easy once you get the hang of it. just take your time, think ahead before you go crazy with a cutoff wheel removing bodylines, seems etc ! and watch the heat ! start in a non obvious area (boot, floor etc) and by the time your at the more visible areas youl be pro ! good luck, itl be worth it in the end ! chris.
  24. ha ha good luck with that dave! you must be gagging to get it on the road mate ?!
  25. yep i gota agree with toecutter on the sticker thingys sorry ! other than that youve got a nice and healthy specimen there william. its looking great ! - chris
