i know my car rocks hehe driving in peak hour everyday drops about 50kms off the amount i get from a tank, but i guess it depends how much other driving i do to really be able to understand the full effect it has... one of my managers has one of those TDI golf's and he gets 900km's from $60 of deisel...does anyone know if hte ld28's are more fuel efficent? lol
-
the screw at the top centre in that pic, just to the right of the hose. i have my car idling a bit under 600rpm i think
-
three times the weight
-
i agree with the 2 seater thing, i wouldn't mind a 2 seater 200zr, then put zg flares on it like that guy in america that thing looks pretty sexy for an ugly 80's car lol

what did you have to weld sulio? out of curiosity, lol. i assume it isn't really structural so do you think a really good adhesive would do the job, like hte ones people use to shave the door handles?
-
apparently not very, and it doesn't seem like it would be as they are the same size atleast! sulio has done it, i think it just involves drilling some new holes as the screws are in different places, just put some whiteout on the screws, put in in place and you've got yourself marks for where to drill! although i'm sure there's a more sophisticated way... once my wheels are on i plan to start back up on my skyline rear lights amongst other things lol
-
and a pic of them installed, you may just be able to tell the drivers seat is a bit lower, i may do the passenger side when i can be bothered, but with the drivers seat it was nearly at the stage where it was hard to get in and out due to the steering wheel gap

After reading http://www.classiczcars.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23226 i started the hunt for some fd seats for my car, whilst still checking ebay for any wrx or gtr seats going cheapish. i bought these seats off an importer who was bringing in an fd in halfcuts, although i woudlnt recommend buying through him as it took 2 months longer than he said, and when he showed me pictures of them they looked half leather half fabric, which i would of loved, and then when i went to pick them up he was arguing that they were complete leather, meanwhile none of it is leather, but the back is vinyl, but still he had no idea what he was going on about, but ended up getting them for $400 which was cheap enough to not care. one of my friends later pointed out to me that leather doesn't burn where vinyl and cloth both either melt or catch alight, and it would of been funny to have him set these alight, but woudlnt have helped me at all! and they look nice, although there is a bit of sunfade on them so may look into getting some black fabric die or getting the outside bit retrimmed in leather like i would of liked in the first place the rx7 rails come with an extra bar on them, to strengthen the seatbelt mount i assume, which can easily be removed along with the seatbelt, then all that needs to be done is to bend the rear mount down onto close to a 60degree angle to match the zed, where orginally its straight. i clampled where i wanted it to bend so not to put the force onto the rivits when doing this. then the only thing that needs to be done to the zed's body is to drill out the hole at the front of the rails an extra 1mm so the locating pin on the rx7 rails can slot in. the drivers side one is slightly wider althoguh can still be made to bolt in just as easily. however mounting them like this makes them noticably to high and not centered by about 2cm, so i took it back out and grinded off the bits of the rx7 rail that stop it from sitting as low, which means i can't slide the seat back as far, but i double checked that this would suit me fine before hand (and it is only about 3 positions shorter than the stock rails let you slide back to anyway, but for some reason the rail is longer than it allows you to slide, if that makes sense), i dont have any pics of this, but now it sits alot closer to the same height as the stock seats, although i do not know if it was worth the couple of hours this took to do! i'd easily recommend this upgrade, as they look factory, are easy enough to do, and are a huge comfort upgrade and hole you in tightly. at the motor show i sat in a 350z and wrx and their seats weren't as snug as these are, along with those in my parents SRi, lol

i've never had 2+2 tail lights to confirm this, but i'd say the rear number plate lights are the same as the 2 seater, and the actual lights just unscrew from the black panel as a seperate assembly, which i'm guessing is the same as the 2 seaters. the black surround panel thing however is different, its wider, and to make them not have a huge blank section theyhave the two raised bits to the centre of the reverse lights, which the 2 seaters dont. so the seller really should remove his "Original will fit any datsun Z" as its not the case, it would be easier to put 240z lights in a 260 2 seater than these so if you want really good condition lenses then it might b worth it, but from the pic i'd say the exhaust side one is slightly darker so its not worth it
-
nup, well the whole assembly isn't, so depends which assembly you mean i'm not sure if the light assembly itself is or not, i'd assume they are the same as it would make more sense from a manufacturing point of view, but the panel is different as they are wider hope this helps

dom is now working for another company as wholesale or something like that, but i assume he can still trade under his old company name as its still in existance, just there is no shop front. if things go bad there then i'll have to work something out with ROH who are being helpful and have got the wheels back on the production line i called roh today to see if dom had paid them yet, as thats why they cancelled them, and he hasn't, and i told them i was happy to call him although it doesn't make as much sense as them calling them, so they said they'd chase it up, so i assume i'll hear from them if there's an issue, although since he's ordering wheels from ROH for this wholesale company (it makes no sense to me to put another shop in this stupid process of buying wheels, although he said they mainly sell tyres to car yards, which still doesn't make complete sense to me but atleast this place has a shop front in existance lol) so i guess i'll see how things go. when i talked to dom he said he was happy for me to come and get a refund from him as he could understand my annoyance etc, but i'll see how things go

gav i'd love to see the pics of the rails you did for your seats the other seats people put in mark are any of the other normal performance type seats around. there's a write up on fto seats on classiczcars but the thought there is they are just to wide and you'd be better off with skinnier seats, but it depends how cheap you can get them for!
-
i've just put a pair of fd rx7 seats in my car, which i like the look of more htan the mx5 seats, and from what i've read they are the same rails. they are basically the same shape as the zed seats although they hold you in alot more tightly. my cousin has a dc5 type r, and while it has better seats for the money these are more than good enough, and nearly as supportive (i think the fd seats are narrower which is what i was interested in, as having high supports that are to wide does nothing for me lol) the rails are about 3cm longer than the zed ones, but some spacers help this but the seats end up sitting up higher, and they aren't centered by 2-3cm, the only one that i really care about these issues with is the drivers side as you can see these issues quite easily due to the steering wheel, both i aim to fix this weekend. i'm planning on doing a bit of a writeup on it, but there is already a fairly simple one on classiczcars which i found made alot more sense when the seats were infront of you, but i aim to have pics so you dont have to have the seats to see whats invovled. the best bit of these seats for a 2+2 would b that you get a lever on the inside of hte passenger seat which lets you tilt and slide the seat foward, to help out any "challenged" people you have sitting in the rear seats
-
the wider the wheel the lower the offset needs to be, as basically the backspacing has to stay constant. so if 0offset at 7" is ideal every inch added should be added to the front half, so this would make the offset for an 8" wheel -1inch, which is like -25 (1 inch in mm?) the wide wheels people run with flares off the top of my head are 8.5"-6 and 9.5"-17 in general, which might help give you an idea of the maximum backspacing they use on each end and therefore what you'd need for wheels that will stay under the guards ppl on hybridz run 16x8's with zero offset or like +4 or something small like that, and they stick out beyond the guards and look kinda crap because of this imho

you'll find the fuel guage isn't very linear, so atleast use a full and see how far you get before worrying about getting it tuned, you should get a bit over 400km depending on how ur driving i can't remember where the part of faster travel on my guage is to be ablt to help much more, but i'm pretty sure its once it gets to half way it drops faster, or mayb thats the other car i've been driving...

What you would like your Z to look like?
zedevan replied to Toecutter's topic in General Discussions
hmm looks like its 17", decided to open up all the pics and try to read the writing, in the one's i'd tried to do it on previously i coudlnt lol so if my eyesight is working he's running 225/45/r17 on the back, so thats more stretched than what sulio's running, unless the wheels are a bit skinnier -

i love this shot of this car for some reason, makes me want to paint mine off white, and get the vented bonnet in this photo there doesn't appear to be any flat section to the edge of the flare, is this how they are ment to b? also anyone know what size wheels this car is running? i'm thinking 16"? it looks quite nice in this photo also -
they are the same as far as i can tell, just the 2+2's have an ash try at the back, where the 2 seaters have a blanking plastic bit that snaps in. i currently have a 2+2 console in my car as i didn't want to hack up my near perfect orginal one, although it has cracks in it too around the choke, which seems to be pretty common!
-
excellent work! did i mention i want a convertible 2+2 now? lol
-
yeah they dont have one, lol i find putting up the bonnet works well enough in daylight as it sticks up so high. the best was one time i was driving a late 80's car so it actully had hazzards, but the battery was dead flat (was driving it hoping the alternator would charge it...but it died while idiling) and all these people kept driving past yelling angrily for my to turn on my hazzards!

thanks to ROH i spoke to the guy i ordered the wheels through today. so things look like they are going ahead, just another 4 week wait the guy has moved out of retail and into wholesale or something, but he can't explain why its been so hard for me to get onto him, or y ROH couldnt get onto him either...but then he ordered another set of wheels from them which is how they have his new number. ROH is going to let me know if there are any issues, and i'll be sure to stay in contact with them more this time lol
-
the pun was intended, lol got the seats in, they are heaps more supportive, i dont see anyway to get them sitting at the stock seats height very easily, not that they are uncomfortably high, and are probably a better height for me as i'm kinda short. the only thing thats annoying me is that the drivers seat isn't completely centered on the steering wheel, so will have to elongate some holes to correct this
-
yeah...the one they recommended on the website is for auto transmisions? i dont really get that at all...should i drain it out and go get other stuff or ? i finally drove my car again today and it works now have the passenger side seat out and am playing with the mounts for the FD seats, seems pretty easy, i'll take some pics and post up a how to, but the guy on classiczcars really says it all, although doesn't have pictures of the whole process, but once u've got it infront of you it seems pretty easy...i hope thanks to everyone who has helped, specially Rod for the use of his shaft lol
-
hehe, well z32's dont look to bad as a 4 seater... there's that blue z31 with custom watanabes that looks sexy, and has had the rear bumper taken off and shaved, and theres a black on in japan that looks nice, however since formatting my comp i can't find anything lol.
-
some 200zr's look dam sexy, although once you see the 2 seater version the 4 seater looks ugly, just like any other zed
