Schmick looking 2Plus have you already removed the after market plastic side protection strips? They certainly look better without them Don't worry about the bagging on this forum eventually the 2+2 will take over here then they won't be able to give us any lip hehehehe! Lynton

Wow is that Dales car he put into the side of a mountain in Tassie a few years ago with the NDSOC, if it is it really has been reserected splendidly. Congratulations persistance pays off, just shows you what a passion does Lynton

My Stock 260Z with all the pollution crap runs on 95 Premium and Ultimate and Optimax and Synergy 2000 but I still use fuel additive for every tank full it doesn't seem to make a difference to my car I have even run it on a blend of normal unleaded and premium still runs exactly the same I believe all the s30's have hardened valve seats???? For those that aren't interested in 2+2's look no further, if you don't want to be ignorant, check out the sleeping giants, this is to name just a few refreshed and restored 2+2's, there are many people that turn a blind eye to what is happening in their own back yard, so called purists may claim popularity to the 2 seater coupe but I can asure you the 2+2 is equally as popular for different reasons and is alive and kicking Lynton :?

2+2 = seat in the rear behind the front seats. Has larger front doors for getting in and out The car is about a foot longer than a 2 seater coupe Most came with aircond and radio & tape player Rear quarter windows open and improve ventilation Steering turns from lock to lock is more They deaden the diff whine of 2 seater coupes They don't pitch over bumps on the road as much as the 2 seater coupe They generally haven't had the tough driving life from new like the 2 seater coupes. They handle better "in my opinion" but they do weigh more Other than that basically identical and more user friendly Lynton

Hey nice car, time you moved to QLD then it doesn't matter if the heater doesn't work, you will have to get rid of that passenger door mirror it spoils such a good looking line maybe a better looking mirror
-
260z 2+2 cheap? As compared to what? Wouldn't that be a matter of opinion? Plentiful they were but not now, and as hard to get as a decent 2 seater coupe, most 2+2 have gone to the god now! Lynton

What parts would you like offered through the club?
Lynton replied to gav240z's topic in General Discussions
Hey I have to say interior door trims cream/white for a 2+2 or at least drivers side only, would be a miracle, along with a ss drivers door mirror. I understand the number of verticle vinyl pleats on the door trims vary with different years? Also the chromium strip with the wood grain through it could be difficult? I really wish you well on this. I have heard you can get these trims new but I don't know the supplier source but I had been quoted close on $300-00 plus for each does that ring a bell with you? I think the quote was from All Z Parts? Lynton -

I also am looking for and original drivers mirror. I purchased a left hand side from the US 2nd hand in really good nik off Ebay but RHS seem to be very rare or defunct and the reproduction mirror is Chrome rather than SS. Lynton -

Well my idea of answering that question would be to find out from the club members as buyers (Which you are doing) for types of spare parts to ascertain the type of demand items, but these categories could possibly cover it? 1. Restoration bits & pieces 2. Engine mods & performance parts 3. Body exterior parts and performance add on's 4. Interior trim parts & reproduction Lynton -
If in doubt try a 280zx they are also wider and roomier inside if he is a big boy? Lynton

Gee Huw, Congratulations good effort indeed. If you can't bring a car home with you could you bring home a bag full of original RHD drivers SS door mirror. hehehehe! I can't seem to buy one for all the tea in China!!!!! Lynton

Back in 1975 I had a pair of those chrome headlight covers, they were off one of the Zeds shipped out from Japan for rallying in Australia that were to expensive to send back to Japan so they pushed the cars over board on route back to Japan but some parts were scavanged and re sold back here in Australia. the headlight covers being one example the perspex is very thick compared to the after market headlight covers generally available with different screw hole points into the headlight cowl with a quite thick and wide foam rubber gasket much more durable and permanent. By the way I sold this car in the early eighties and I have never seen it since! See Pic: Regards Lynton

Back in the late 60's a sports car was a rag top, in the 70's it became a coupe, in the 80's it became a 2+2 in the 90's it became a sports sedan, Back in the 70's a 2+2 was considered an older persons grand touring transport definetly not a sports car/coupe, then the RX8 wins sports car of the year recently! I have given up on what determines a sports coupe/car. If you like the shape...be happy and put your own stamp of approval on it! I still like rag tops, I still like Coupes and I currently drive a 260Z 2+2 & a S15 200sx and occassionally a Z31 Californian I think we become to fussy. In the end it is all in the eyes of the beholder, so go drive an MX5 another great fun sports car! But really in the end I have a facination for Zeds! I think I need a stable of cars to stop me complaining geeez! Lynton

I drive my 2+2 mostly always with the rear 1/4 windows open it helps move the air in the cabin even with the aircond on. My car does not suck exhaust fumes unless the tailgate is open check alignment of hatch and rubbers, tail lights & rubbers and any rust or holes at the rear to allow exhaust fumes to enter. Lynton

Gav, That Zed "004" previously owned by Corbett, I think, was sold to a collector, someone pehaps in the NDSOC may know it whereabouts now? Or at least have a contact to maybe find out? Lynton

Good 240Z's in the body department are becoming so rare that if the car is a really good little number it is a shame to take away the originality, it is worth a lot more in rigi didge condition so go get a another more beaten up car and modify it. Or at least change and modify the car you have got so it can be taken back to stock without too much of a headache and expense.....well that's my opinion od course! Lynton
