Corsa224 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Hi does anybody know if the 77 2+2 has the plastic under bonnet air ducts that are in the front corners next to the rad supports? Thanks Chris Quote
Retro Z Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 My previous 77 2+2 had it. Your referring to the fresh air ducts right? The corrugated plastic tube that goes from the round hole commonly used for intercooler piping to the oval hole above the wheel tubs? Quote

I am not sure if it was built that way or they have been welded over, but it does not have the oval holes in the sides Quote
Riceburner Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 My jap import 77 260z 2+2 does have them. Quote
Brabham Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Only GRS sports models or "series 1" 260Z's had them The rest didn't Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 18, 2013 Moderators Posted January 18, 2013 My first 77 2 seater didn't have them yet another club members 77 2 seater just a few chassis numbers away did have them.. Not sure why that is? Quote
Corsa224 Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 Lol, datsun got to love the way they build a car. Thanks for all your help Quote
Brabham Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Think it must only be the sport models then? GRS sport has them, mates 2+2 doesn't. Yep plenty of differences between the models:) Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted January 19, 2013 Moderators Posted January 19, 2013 That GRS Sport thing is only on the compliance plate; don't think it has anything to do with the build of the car in Japan. Quote
gilltech Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I'd always thought they were deleted after the last of the '76 models, at the same time as other changes were made to the '77-on body shell. I don't really understand what their purpose is in any case, they surely can't shift enough air to actually do much of anything? Quote
. Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 I believe they are there to funnel fresh air around the sides of the engine bay and into the windscreen plenum where it can then be picked up by the interior vent. The idea being it avoids smelly engine bay gases coming into the cabin. Thats why I ditched mine....I love the smell of ULP/oil in the morning. Quote
gilltech Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Makes sense. Maybe keep them & duct air downwards to the brakes instead? Quote
