Stivva Posted November 5, 2012 Posted November 5, 2012 hi guys, just wondering which off the shelf rear shocks are the shortest? I know there are plenty available and I just need a little more travel so I don't bottom out. so which off the shelf ones are the best on a budget. Quote
MaygZ Posted November 6, 2012 Posted November 6, 2012 Stiv, I'm using Z31's. they are about 63mm shorter. If that helps. Quote
Riceburner Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Stiv, I'm using Z31's. they are about 63mm shorter. If that helps. +1..... are the struts sectioned, got good quality bump stops? I can't recall if mine are stock or short Z31 Fronts, here's what I did on a non sectioned front strut. The KYB AGX 4way adjustable shock body is 338mm long(should be available in a standard GR2 gas non adjustable & cheaper) If you machine a spacer for a very neat fit and then fit it to the TOP of the insert. This will retain the shock properly, stop you bottoming out and ruining the shock. It also alters the suspension droop, so you springs will remain captive at all times. Quote
OZZ240 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Did/do you use the Z31 front shocks front and rear in the 240Z struts or use something different for the rear? Quote
chris240 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 Yes , different.... I did a small writeup on "off the shelf" yellow konis for a 240z a while back and i think i quoted part no's also. From memory we used z31 300zx and toyota corolla shocks as recommended by the Aust wholesaler for konis Toperformance, as the guys also have zeds... Do a search under suspension section in feb 2011 plus another posting just before for Konis....dang I-pads are a horror for trying to cut and paste !! Quote
